Writer/director/producer M. Shyamalan returns to his roots with the terrifying story of a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a weeklong trip. To me, the scares in this movie were set up quite well, because they did a great job emphasizing the sheer unpredictability of the grandma and hence played on our fear of the unknown. It kept me on edge for much of the movie, as I never knew what the grandma would do next. Even though "The Visit" may not have been a great movie, I personally rank it higher than a lot of ghost movies (even including "The Conjuring" and "Lights out") in terms of scares.
This trailer intrigued me. In this movie, are they possessed or just crazy phycos? I avoid any movies with demons and ghost but if this isn't that I would watch it.

This movies really good. Creepy as hell in my opinion, when the grandma is chasing them under the house and when you finally realize wtf is going on, gave me the chills. Definitely worth watching
What a pleasant surprise that this was a Shyamaylan movie. LOVE his work. Loved this movie. Plot twists were amazing, acting was excellent, had jump scares, GREAT storyline. This is a 10/10 and 2 very enthusiastic thumbs up!

I'm writing this comment in 2019. M. Night Shyamalan is back and better then ever because of The Vist. He now made Split and Glass. Those are both great movies. I can't wait to see what his next movie is.
Just watched this movie tonight to sort of brush-up on M Night's style before watching *OLD.* I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised. This movie gave me chills and goosebumps on quite a few occasions and the wtf ending did not disappoint. I highly recommend for anyone wanting to watch something that may not necessarily be 'scary', but creepy and chilling. The film also had a few funny moments. Also, there's no denying that the actress playing Nana did an amazing job really embracing her role 👍🏼👍🏼
If Shyamalan doesn't put a twist ending in this movie, it would be the most unexpected twist of his career.

Cerulean They’re not actually their grandparents. They’re mental hospital patients that murdered the real grandparents and left them to rot in the basement.
I'm here just to humblebrag that I called it early lol. They foreshadowed the mental hospital thingy way too much for it to not have any relevance in the story.
The part when she wanted her to get in the oven gave me major hansel and gretel vibes. Literally thought she was a witch and that she was possessed and wanted to cook and eat them like in the fairytale.
Night made this movie when he was at low point in his career.

I got to say, the hype in this trailer has to be one of the best build up’s I’ve seen in a trailer. It’s done so well! Plus the music at (1:41 - 2:15) has to be one of the most bad@$$ sounding movie trailer soundtrack’s I’ve ever heard. This has got to be one of the best M. Night Shyamalan films he’s made in YEARS.

I firmly believe in M. Night. "The Sixth Sense", "Unbreakable" and "Signs" were such strong films, I could never 100% give up on him as a filmmaker. (And sorry, but I think anyone who has given up 100% is too jaded) Even if this is another failure, I have to... no, I NEED to believe that M. Night has at least one or two more good films in him. So I will most definitely check this one out! Yes, "The Happening", "The Last Airbender" and "After Earth" sucked like there is no tomorrow... but this is the same guy who gave us those classic earlier films... He HAS to have at least once more masterpiece in him.
Don't forget Lady in the Water. Oh wait, nobody should remember that film.

This looks really cool and scary to me, though, so maybe this is the turning point. Basically, I think that when people started calling him "The New Hitchcock", it broke him. His ego went batshit crazy and he stopped listening to anybody and started relying solely on himself. It's actually a pretty common problem with directors. Ego is a funny thing. You need it, it's vitally important, but there must be a balance. All ego and no humility leads to Lady in the Water.

Just watched this movie.... and my heart is yet to calm the beating ..... i love the scare tactics ..... they were far from cliché .... love the camera perspective..... it gave as a 1st person perspective experience alot..... unpredictability of the grandparents makes you stand on the edge the whole movie..... the plot twist make your heart sink..... the contrast of age gap of characters ie old people and kids complimented the creepiness altogether ..... anyways M. never fails to amaze us.... this is now one of my fav horror movie....

Ever since Paranormal Activity, at least 3 movies just like this come out every year (including another Paranormal Activity movie) it doesn't even surprise me anymore. Saw this movie last year at an advance screening, and even got to be apart of the focus group at the end and guess what... everybody loved it!! It's very FUNNY! Not like in a bad way either. M. Night Shyamalan really let his comedy side show in this one. The producers were going to put this movie straight to Netflix, but everyone in the theaters thought it was good enough for the big screen. He wasn't making a movie for a studio either, he made it by himself and I believe the response was positive so Universal picked it up.
I"ll tell you right now, the movie is surprisingly good. Great twist ending, great acting. This movie is a must see! I'm for sure going to watch it again.

Spectron PowerHouse Whatever it is that is causing the grandparents to go crazy, at the end of the movie the kids will probably get rescued by the mom they get taken home and not long after that they see her starting to act erratic like the grand parents.

This is such a great movie. This is pretty much the last good horror film I’ve seen in a while in theaters. Terrifier is also one of the best horror films I’ve seen in the past 10 years. Horror just isn’t the same anymore. We need more movies like this and awesome new horror villains like Art the clown
Should be exciting for this coming year. Terrifier 2 should be coming out with heavy title Halloween ends

Watched this last night. Best horror movie I've seen in years! I usually find these movies slow and boring but not this one. The jump scares were done so well! Plus th acting was incredible. I gave my dog many heart attacks 😂
