It's sort of like how a number has n roots on the complex plane. It either has two roots (positive and negative), one root, or no roots on the real number line, but those other "adjacent" roots exist on the plane, no matter what. Even numbers that don't have roots on the real line have n total roots, just all n of them are in the complex plane.
It's like this whole other side of the math universe hiding, but was there all along.

The 4th line. A triangle has its end points on circumcircle. Each line of triangle is tangent to the incircle and has its midpoint on the nine-point circle. Apart from these three lines, B. F. Sherman established that there is a fourth line, which is also tangent to the incircle and bisected by the nine-point circle with end points on circumcircle. He called this the fourth side of the triangle while others call it as the Sherman line of the triangle. Vsauce thank you.

    • @MagiciteHeart

A square necessarily has 4 sides of equal length, that's the actual defining principle. Having 4 sides doesn't make something a square, or even a rectangle (of which a square also is). Also trapezoids, parallelograms, and infinite number of irregular polygons with 4 sides. Claiming a triangle is a square is just patently false. This at least has a mathematical reasoning behind it. My technical gripe with this as that I don't think you can define a line as a side, because this definition of "side" leaves out the property of being a boundary layer that defines the dimensions of the polygon. The fourth "side" isn't a side, it's just a line that happens to match a specific definition that leaves out critical factors. This kind of stuff is fun but I REALLY hate all the people who go around thinking that they're being smart be going around arrogantly trying to impress people or acting like they're less intelligent by going around acting like this is a fact instead of essentially the geometry version of comic book nerds geeking out over head canons

It has endpoints in the circumcircle, is tangent to the incircle, and has its midpoint on the nine-point circle. This is surprising because any two criteria are already non-trivial to get to match, and the third criterion makes it all thr more unlikely to randomly stumble upon a setup that fits all three, but here we are, with every triangle having a fourth unrelated line segment which exhibits these same three properties all its sides exhibit

It's just defining the sides of a triangle as lines which have points that align with those 3 circles you saw. The discovery is that there's a 4th line you can draw that aligns with those 3 circles that may not be a part of a geometric triangle, but fits what is defined as a "side" in this case.
