- In the breathtaking landscapes of Mongolia, a delicious immersion among the Tsaatan, one of the last nomadic peoples whose ancestral way of life is threatened.
In the far north of Mongolia, in an immense virgin and icy territory, live astonishing nomads: the Tsaatan, nicknamed "the people of the reindeer". Living in simple tepees in often extreme conditions, surrounded by their deer with superb antlers, the Tsaatan, who number only two hundred, represent one of the last communities in the taiga scattered into small family clans. These breeders travel with their herds in search of the precious lichen without which the animals could not survive. But today their ancestral way of life, punctuated by the practice of shamanism, is threatened. For several years, the government has required that all children be in school from the age of 6. For Magsar and his family, as for others, this is an upheaval likely to accelerate the end of their nomadic life. Because if she wants to follow the law, the family must separate: while Magsar keeps the reindeer, his wife and children must go and live near the only school in the region, a days' walk from the camp. So what to do? Disobey and continue tradition? Or give children a better future?

Какая спокойная жизнь,,и люди свободны счастливы,свежий воздух,нет войны,налогов,бедных,богатых,нет работадателей-" хозяев жизни", нет арестов,омонов,росгвардии,тюрем- свободная страна,где дышат люди полноц грудью!!, Никакого запрета,нет бездарей депутатов,чиновников всех мастей,нет дармоедов сидячих в монастырях, в церквях,в мечетях,нет всяких пропагандистов,не видны не нужные президенты( тираны населения)!! Живите там,молодцы,я с удовольствием пожила бы в этой суровой земле,бог вам пусть поможет во всем!!🎉❤❤🎉

Я рядом жил у их прекрасная природа кедровники Был на Ульгуджин на Нарытуе .эта тайга украли мое сердце У до сих пор настольгия .Монголы без хитросные люди ..Они мне тогда отдавали 25 коней И не могли понять почему я не могу принять их подарок.Они не могли взять в толк почему я не понимать столько лошадей!.это было в конце 70 годов .!

Монголия колыбель моя, я калмычка, из племени торгудов, род цаатн. Живём давно в России, в республике Калмыкия. Ранее всё наши предки занимались животноводством, в бескрайних степях пасли скот, тоже нелёгкая работа. А мы с детства живём в городе, в теплом благоустроенном доме с новейшей техникой, все получили хорошее образование, многие закончили вузы в крупных городах России, работают в МСК и СБП, за границей. А получается, что мои далёкие предки цаатаны жили и живут так. Я просто в восхищении их стойкости, выносливости, жизнерадостности. Когда то от моей няни я слышала, что мы оленеводы и спустились с гор. Я думала это сказка, а оказывается правда. Пусть у цаатанов, моих людей будет всё хорошо. ❤❤❤

The duplicity of our human spirit will always cause a tug of war between the here and there, the past and the present, the future and the unknown. Мне 65 лет ,родился в деревне рядом горы.Уже 48 лет живу в городе,была бы моя воля сегодня поднялся с место и уехал бы в родные края.К сожалению дети родились в городе никто туда не хочет.Вот так и живём.
А почему бы и не уехать всё зависит от Вас, это Ваш выбор это естественно чего требует Ваша душа, человек нужен только самому себе и никому, а дети у них потребительское отношение ко всему, так что никогда не поздно.

This is an amazing documentary. I have no words to appreciate the efforts taken by the crew and their patience to film in such harsh environment. I m sure this would have been the rarest of rare experience for the entire crew. Congratulations to all of them. Let's hope , the life if these nomads may remain unchanged for another 100s of years, cos I feel that their life away from this modern world is really beautiful !

It is always so puzzling to me to watch stories of traditional/ancient ways of life. The 'elders' are fearful & sad that their way of life is dying & worry about the preservation of their unique culture. Simultaneously, they are pushing their children - the ones who would carry on this way - away & in to the perceived safety of 'education'. There are many ways to be educated/smart/intelligent. I think many of these folks conflate Western style education with 'intelligence' & being educated. Take a look at any average American child in public school & you can see where the flaw in this thinking is. Then the children themselves, do not really value the education that is being forced upon them - not wanting to go on to university, not attending regularly, etc....They express a desire to live as they grew up. Even the younger couple, the wife did not come from a nomad family, yet still expressed her joy in living in that nomadic manner. So I don't think they won't be able to find wives. I don't understand this way of thinking. It is endemic in USA rural life, too, where I live. We push kids, who would rather stay on the farm, to go to university & then complain that they won't come back & take over the farming operation so the parents can retire. It is insanity. These traditional ways of life ARE worthy & are worth keeping alive. I wish the adults could see this...

J'ai regardé le documentaire avec ma mère, j'étais surprise tout au long de la vidéo de l'état d'âme de ces personnes qui reflètent le bonheur,la paix , la liberté et la chaleur de la famille dans la froideur de cette région .un peuple et un mode de vie qui nous fait questionner notre état moderne et le fake bonheur que nous suivons.

I am touched by the happiness of these people, living without the mere comfort of the western way of life, yet content, smiling. Bless them. I don't know when this documentary was filmed, years ago probably, but how I agree with the sentiment of the main character: the world is going in the wrong direction. How true. with the woke agenda, with our lives directed by a handful of rich families, with waring in the east of Europe, in the Arab - jewish community, where will it end? I am now old, but worry about the young generation. Love and respect to the Tsaatan people and to the makers of this fantastic documentary, from Hungary.

Un film admirabil ! Felicitări pentru că ai suferit de frig alaturi de acești eroi ai Mongoliei ! Viața este grea pentru noi lumea civilizată ,care trăim în lux cu apa la robinet,cu pâinea de la supermarket,cu transportul in autobuze calde,cu scoli ,spitale ,farmacii,magazine ??? Oamenii aceștia nu iau nimic degeaba din natura ,trebuie să muncească pentru a trai și suferă mult departe de cei dragi !! Are dreptate acel pastor de reni că Lumea merge în direcția gresită ! Am pierdut legătura sfântă cu natura și asta ne va duce sfârșitul !!!

Merci pour ce magnifique reportage. J’ai eu la chance de passer deux semaines en Mongolie et j’ai pu constater la régression du mode de vie nomade, avec du coup un développement de bidonvilles autour de la capitale (la moitié de la population du pays!). Espérons que les nomades (ou plutôt maintenant les semi-nomades) puissent conserver leurs traditions et leur mode de vie, à la fois difficile mais aussi synonyme de liberté.
