I wouldn't normally say personal stuff on the internet to a bunch of strangers. But my mum, passed away two years ago yesterday when I woke up to Tom's new song. I've fought personal battles with depression, suicide, alcohol, daily life struggles, and trying to be the strong respectable person. But watching this was like listening to my mom still cheering me on to keep going and saying all the things she used to tell me. I used to brush it off and say "I know mom" but I really needed the push and the self respect boost. This one will be played on repeat for awhile and brought back whenever I needed that help from mom and that swift kick in the rear she used to give me when I didn't think i needed it, so thanks Tom. I survived a terrible traffic accident at 18, it was a wonder I even survived. In 2016, I still took tramadol daily to be able to live with the pain and doctors concluded further recovery was impossible, and I would stay 15% disabled in my upper body.
I couldn't accept this fate at such a young age, I refused to live as a disabled person dependent on pain medication. I started training, revalidating, using every bit of info I could find. I perfected my diet.
It is now 2023 and I am 99% fully recovered.

My friend has been blind for 25 yrs after being shot in the head. Getting his sight back was medically impossible. Sunday night at church he was being prayed for and said he started seeing shadows and light when he opened his eyes instead of darkness. It was confirmed Monday at his Dr appt via CT scan that his optic nerve was now miraculously reattached. His Dr is still scratching their head and he is praising God. My pastor and congregation are in awe of the greatness and power of what God is doing. Amen

I’ve been off the drugs for 2 years. I have finally gotten custody of my kids again. I just started a new job.. I’ve never been this happy & I’ve never been sober this long. I’m sober 5 1/2 years and my fiancé passed away 90 days from fentanyl . This has been the hardest thing I’ve ever faced and honestly some days I don’t even want to get out of bed. He was actually the reason I am a fan of you, Tom. He introduced me to your music. Your songs about sobriety, and your struggles really connected with the two of us. I’m doing everything I can to believe that there was a reason for why he went so young, and I am a fighter, and I’m going to make it through. I knew God was real when I was 15. My mom flipped a convertible cavalier due to having a random seizure. I was at a friends, this was before cell phones, but when I got home my mom & dad weren’t there but the whole neighborhood was in my house waiting on me. My grandma had to demand the first aid station in our town get the helicopter & get her to another city with a great hospital. They said she’d never make it but thankfully my grandma was hell on wheels! When I got to the 2nd hospital they put me in a tiny room full of supplies and my dad kept his head between his hands and all he could say was I’m so sorry. He’s a veterinarian. She flipped the car and she hit the pavement and the car landed on her. Thankfully she was in the back seat. They had gone to pick up his bronco from the mechanic and were only 3 miles from our house. If it weren’t for him she wouldn’t have made it. She was drowning in her own blood. He knew how to ram his hand down her airway and keep it open so she could get air in. 4 lanky young teenage boys saw what happened and ran out to the car. It took a few tries but those skinny boys managed to lift that car off of her and on to its side so my dad could help her more. While I was hugging my dad and telling him it’s going to be ok I noticed he was covered in her blood. The doctor came in looked at the floor and told me at age 15 and my little sister who was 12 he was sorry but our mom wouldn’t make it thru the night. I know I looked like a deer in headlights. I just sat there in shock with no emotion. My sister ran to my grandma. My dad walked out to give me a minute. My dad was actually my stepdad but the only dad I claim. I knew in that moment if my mom didn’t make it I would be forced to live with my bipolar stepmom who hates me and my sperm donor who gladly traded me off for a perfect daughter in my stepsister. It would be a living hell! But also, my mom was my best friend! I just put my head in my hands and prayed the hardest I’ve ever prayed. I told God if he’d let me keep her I didn’t care what shape she was in I’d take care of her and never complain. Just don’t take her! She spent 73 days in that hosp. The flight crew made her a scrapbook & they told her she was their miracle! No one but me thought she had a chance. They just didn’t know it wasn’t in God’s plan for her to die then. I’m now 47 and she’s just turned 70 this year! She has to use a walker & has some health problems but her mind is sharp! God knew I needed her. I fed her, had to wipe her, bathe her, etc. till she learned to use her muscles and work around the nerve damage done but she was even back driving after 1 year. She’s a quiet sweet lady that has the soul of a true fighter!

This song made me cry. Someone who has taught herself how to survive since she was four because her parents did the bare minimum. Someone who is fighting PTSD everyday because she was abused in every possible way and finally had the courage to tell someone only to be abused by “help.” Decided to give her only parent a chance, her mother died when she was nine, to only be kicked out a year later. She might have a job and a home now, but she has fears, ideations, and paranoia for the rest of her life….this song means the absolute world to me.
