    When I was in Japan, I bought one of these fruit sandwiches just out of curiosity but wasn’t expecting much from them cuz it’s just fruit, cream, and bread. When I took a bite out of it, it was perhaps the best dessert I’ve ever had! Most of them even put custard in the middle. It’s like a fruit tart but with sweeter fruit and the texture is soft and fluffy whereas a fruit tart is a bit heavier.

      @@deficator750 Shes probably talking about the tart shell that the fruit and custard sits in. It’s usually made with a graham crust and “heavy” so it doesn’t get soggy and fall apart whereas the bread is light and fluffy. In reality it’s actually quite different because the fruit tart is made with a custard and these fruit sandwiches are made with a whipped type of cream.

    • @Cybereve
      @Cybereve 2 년 전 +29

      In Japan you don´t ever eat in the streets, unless it is a street festival or clearly marked as an area for having your food. You are not even supposed to take a drink/coffe to go and drink it or eat ice cream/snack while walking. It is considered unmanered and people will stare at you. There are either designated areas outside the shops/bars or near the vending machines or sometimes in some parks, where you can stand or sit down and eat/drink, but you don´t walk with food. And these are meant more like deserts/cakes more than the western equivalent of a sandwich (not a quick bite on the go), so you are supposed to either take it home with you, sit down and eat it properly (sometimes even with cuttlery) or sit down at or near the shop if there´s a place, like you would in a caffe and enjoy it like you would maybe a cupcake :-)
