My mother was religious too. Schizophrenic paranoia and hallucinations manifest on what the sufferer knows, it's very very common that people who are religious delusion and hallucinations centre around their religion. I can't stress enough how common it is. My mother also had a hard childhood. Her father beat the kids severely and made them terrified of police. Police were also part of her paranoid beliefs. Medication meant my mother was a brilliant parent and raised me alone after my father passed away.

If it was possession it takes multiple attempts to expel it, if it was so easy any 12yo would be called to do it🤣🤣🤣

it's actually called DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) now as "multiple personality" as the term for the condition is not factually correct anymore and actually hurts the people affected by it.

Just because the people you knew didn’t mind it doesn’t mean the gen pop of those with DID are ok with it. As our understanding of disorders change so do the names. I have bipolar II. That term is new. But if I was treated as though I had bipolar I I would be very ill. Same with DID. With the new name we change the treatment. Use the correct name. You’re the snowflake here babe.

As someone who professionally worked with mentally ill patients at a long term health facility many years that’s not characteristic of Bipolar. Schizophrenia or maybe psychosis. Bipolar patients may have episodes of psychosis short term but it sounds more like schizophrenia.

Some people do have extremely psychotic and paranoid/delusional manic episodes that intersect with symptoms of schizophrenia, it’s called schizoaffective disorder

I am also Bipolar, and my worst problem with it is that, unmedicated, I go for days and days without sleeping. I have to say that I do not often have paranoia or hallucinations, but I have done some pretty weird stuff when I haven't slept for a week.

i have met a couple of people with BP disorder that did suffer from delusions and paranoia. definitely a spectrum of a disorder and i doubt its too common
