I never feel so ugly as when I'm sat in the chair at the hairdressers facing the mirror. Hair slicked back, make up all smeared from the shampooing bit and the cape tight around my neck.. gorgeous ha ha

Even for the worst reviews youd expect them to know somewhat what they are doing. Like id figure it was bad; Customer service bad hair utensils (scissors soap brand etc) and bad cleanliness (not swept floors etc)
i think they go to these salons expecting decent results--but dont get that. therefore, they title the video "going to the worst salon" AFTER
The first result was lovely and only took one dyeing session (unless I'm wrong). I think she was being way too negative about the results.

I’m pretty sure they’re aware they’re going to get a bad haircut, but they expect it to be more along the lines of average. Nothing mind blowing.
I don’t think they expect to get a haircut that’s worse than something they could do themselves.
There's a reason why some places don't get good reviews and honestly should have been more aware for asking something from them
the last girl got a recommendation from a friend, she didn't do it intentionally and I feel so sorry for her..
I wish I could go back to the late 90's and record when I asked for the infamous "Rachel" cut, and walked out with a bowl cut and a rat tail... It was awful. Lmao
I am so late replying to this but I asked for a Rachel cut in the early 2000s and got these God-awful choppy layers around my face that looked like someone had hacked 4 different layers with a pruning shears. It was so bad! 😅

Jolene Jellybean nah they definitely are overrated every time I go to a salon I pay 400 just for a mess. Never again my hair has never looked this good until I started doing it myself
I've literally never walked out happy with what I've had from the hairdressers. I've been to many different ones. High end salons, cheaper salons and I have never ever gotten what I asked for. When I use to go I always asked for the same thing. Keep my length but add layers on top. They always ended up cutting my hair short... I decided to start doing my own hair and have never looked back
Same! I had one lady briefly look panicked at the word ‘layers’ but then was like “Oh yeah, absolutely!” and being a dumb new adult, I went with it. After the 11th time of asking desperately for layers, and had several pictures for example, only to come out with a short blunt bob, I was like “Yeaaahhhh I can mess it up for free, and I can live with it since I have to anyway.” I have not gone back to a salon for about a decade now.
Same 😂 I had one stylist I loved but I moved away. I never tried finding anyone else, just bit the bullet and learned how to do my own professional grade coloring and my own trims and layers. And bangs depending on how I feel about them at the time. I did a homemade clarifying treatment this evening and it feels uuuuuuhhhhmazing, and it's getting good n ready for my coloring day tomorrow. 🥳

God I spent my entire young life getting shut down by EVERY STYLIST EVER when I asked for ANY layering whatsoever, and they'd claim it was "impossible" because my hair was so thin it would make it look "so thin it would be terrible" so I ALWAYS got stuck with like, ugly ass bowl cuts. Blunt ass ends, every goddamn time. I also begged them not to cut more than an inch or two EVERY SINGLE TIME but they ALWAYS told me it "needed it" aaaand cut it ALL off. All in response to my having thin hair. They thought if they gave me a short blunt cut, I'd somehow be tricked into happiness bc it would give the illusion of thicker hair. I didn't gaf about thin or thick! And guess what, after a lifetime of being told I couldn't possibly have long hair, I couldn't POSSIBLY have layers, I couldn't POSSIBLY put ANY color in my fine hair without DESTROYING it....I have healthy, shiny, strong, dyed- purple-black hair DOWN TO MY BUTT, WITH LAYERS, aaaaaalllllll of which I do MYSELF, thank you very much 😂 my middle school self is still crying though.... if I had just.... not freaking let them push me around, I could've had pretty hair and I wouldn't have been bullied QUITE so much. Ugh lol.

s0lastsummer7 Nope, I have SO much hair on my head that gets a weird wavy/frizzy texture, so when I would have the blunt bobs, that shit would triangle out so bad. I wanted layers because my hair gets so heavy past my shoulder and its a mess. I finally shaved the sides of my head snd left the long center stripe because I was over-heating at work and I was DONE.
Also to add, I just chopped all my hair off into a short pixie about a month ago, and then bleached the top lmao. It feels so freeeeeeee!
I'm actually the opposite. I love when my stylist touches my hair. I love sitting there, I could do it forever. I almost fall asleep. Something about touching my hair relaxes me.
I was going to schools to get my hair done for a while and that process always takes so long I almost always ended up resting my eyes 😂
I love it too, I also really like when they wash my hair, they always do it so relaxing. Like that is the Highlight of Covid because in my country they HAVE to wash the hair before a cut. So I'm like 😊🤪

Yes. Back in the day I wanted the "Jennifer" hair cut and came out looking like an 80 year old lady.
@@thedellyone2215 I walked out of the salon with my hair a "lovely avo green" when it was supposed to be electric blue.
Besides the colour, here's everything else that went wrong:
-The bleaching was bad (spotty and nowhere nearly as light as it should have been)
-They ran out of blue dye
-It was semi-permanent colour when I asked for permanent.
-And the blue colour was rubbing off on my clothes and pillows (which people found strange as my hair was green)

The reason it turned green is because yellow + blue = green. Also explains why you had blue depositing on your clothes & pillows.

Sam Lynn depends on the desired outcome. for what she wanted, definitely not. & it’s still the stylists fault. but most of the time when ppl get a ombre/balayage they are going lighter, not darker, so they require bleach. unfortunately this stylist did not do a thorough enough consult before starting.
Savannah Peaches yes but we are talking about this particular scenario, it’s not as if the stylist was blindfolded and didn’t see clearly with his own eyes that the client was wanting to go darker. If I had a client wanting a brown base with blonde hilights and they were a natural blonde I would not put lightener on their hair just because that’s what I would normally do on the average client 🤦🏻♀️ so why even mention it

It's been almost 4 years, and I still I'm mad at the hairdresser that burned (destroyed) my waist long hair and made it orange, instead of the ash blond is asked for. Plus, him ruining my hair was so expensive!

This is what I’m afraid of. My hair isn’t quite waist length, I’ve got about 5 more inches to grow, but it’s loooong. It’s also super dark naturally. I would love to have pink or purple streaks, but I’m terrified of my hair getting screwed up and having to cut it short.

Honestly I have to hand it to hairdressers they deal with so much. I almost NEVER like my haircut when I initially get it and it takes me like 2 weeks to like it. These days I ALWAYS just say I like it even if I’m unsure and then I give it a few days to settle in before I make the final verdict.
I always can’t tell if I like it until I’m home and have a chance to properly look at it, so I just tell the hairdresser I like it

I can't afford to see my hairdresser often, but I love her & totally trust her with my hair. She knows me & what I like & won't like. I've been going to her for about 20 years! She went from working at a salon to owning her own! I remember one time I thought I wanted bangs & she was like, no you don't, you hate hair in your face when you can't put it all up! And I was like omg you're so right! Check reviews, pics, & develop a good relationship with your stylist. And remember you get what you pay for!

Story time: my fiance convinced me to go to a style salon at Walmart. To be fair, he has long thick hair and they cut and style his hair perfectly. So I just decided sure, whatever.
We both worked third shift and my appointment was at 9am. We went right after work. The hairdresser arrived at 10 because that was the start of her shift and was not aware of the time we were told by a different employee early that week. I wanted the blonde ends of my hair dyed a dusty pink or at least something similar. She agreed. I was there SEVEN hours. She kept leaving to work on other people who came in. I was exhausted from work, starving, and had to use the bathroom. When she finally ended. My hair had a straight line accros the middle where DAPHNE BLAKE ORANGE started. I was furious. She offered to try and fix it but I was too tired and of course did not trust her a bit.
Now, my man had 0 input on where I get my hair done anymore. I go across town to my old hairdresser.
Walmart doesn't do unnatural colors....

The first time I ever got my hair bleached and coloured, I went to a salon. I asked for my virgin brown hair to be purple. Had reference photos, multiple color palettes of acceptable shades and tints, shelled out $200....
....and was given hot pink highlights.
When I didn't like it the stylist made the highlights an eggplant purple so dark, it looked no different from the brown hair. I came out of the salon looking no different than I did 4 hours previously and $200 poorer. I've had much better outcomes at home with professional beauty products in the bathroom.
The first time I ever dyed/bleached my hair I donated 9 inches and had a chin length bob of brown hair, showed a reference picture of a pretty magenta color, after bleaching, they mixed dark purple with a little pink and it turned out great...
.... until it faded grey and everyone in my class called me grandma for 3 months until that faded too. It has been a year and a half I haven’t cut my hair since and it looks pretty good (especially in sun)

brad should create a series where he answers peoples questions about their hair, hairdresser tips, etc.
Some years ago, I got sick of super long hair and went to a salon with great reviews to get it cut short. I had pictures of what I wanted -- a pixie cut. The hairdresser was like "Let's give you a chin length bob". Not what I wanted. She did eventually cut it short, but not really in the right style. eventually got that from someone at a Great Clips, who saw what I had, figured out what I wanted, and fixed it right up, for $10 or $15.
At this point I'm just waiting for ramen hair to become a style/fad

I went to the salon after 3 years growing my natural hair coz I used to dye it and I wanted my natural color back(is a brown kinda honey color)
So I went to the saloon and asked for a very soft balayage I said "I've been growing my natural hair for 3 years so I don't wanna change it so much I just want a very soft balayage"
I came out the saloon with blond almost platinum hair,I was so pissed and I was like saying "this is not what I asked for..." and the dude was taking pictures so proud of it and blow drying it

Some of the best haircuts and eyebrow waxings I've ever had have been done at mall salons. But like Brad said, it can be hit or miss depending on who you get. At the same rate, you can find a bad stylist anywhere.

But this is almost every salon I've been to. I have curly hair and I want a haircut that makes my hair look good while it covers my forehead. But somehow they end up doing layers, straightening my hair after washing and I end up looking like a man.. then they ask me how it looks and I say it's bad, but then they just blame my hair for being curly. So I just smile and go back home and cry, yeah.😂
Awww same!! I hate when they straighten my hair. You should try and google a curly hair stylist. Curly hair typically should be cut dry.

I've never had problems with colouring at hair salons, probably because I have ash blonde hair. I have sooo many problems with hair cuts. I have fine hair but a lot of it and it's a lot heavier than stylists realize. It takes forever for them to dry, they get fed up and frustrated and make my hair to poofy. I'm in there for so long and the cuts don't look right. I've learned it's better if I come in with freshly washed and dried hair and require they cut my hair while it's dry. If you just go ahead and blow dry my hair, it turns into a frizzy poofy mess like Hermione from Harry Potter. My hair isn't even very curly, it just responds violently to a blow dryer.

I found you and have totally fallen in love with you! You are sooo right about not all hairstylists being created equal. I had a nightmare one where I had shoulder-length hair and I asked for a trim/layer and they cut the top layer at like an INCH long... I had to go basically shave my head to fix it (super short style)... Luckily, I look good with short hair, but it SUCKED because I had been growing my hair out for so long.
