Literally my only problem with it. NBA is too predictable and NFL is a good balance. Stanley cup the best trophy without a doubt tho 💪🏼

The Cup no longer gets taller, when the bottom ring fills up with the names of the players/coaches of the most recent 13 championships, the oldest ring is removed and enshrined in the hall of fame. There are 5 primary rings each with 13 teams on them.
The history and traditions that go along with the Cup, are awesome.
And the retired rings are flattened out and displayed in the Hockey Hall of Fame
And it is not just NHL players, the whole tradition is flat out throughout hockey.
I did not know that, but then I've never actually watched a hockey game.

Without a doubt. Not only is it huge and carries with it generations of legends on it, but it also the hardest to earn. Both from competition perspective, but also from physical and mental toll required.
A trophy where your name gets engraved onto it. Forever. Traditions that entitle a lap around the ice rink parading and kissing the cup before giving another teammate a turn. Getting a team picture with the cup moments after parading it around. On top of a day with the cup to yourself to do whatever you want with it anywhere in the world. Why is this even a debate?!

I agree. The only time I watched the Stanley Cup Finals when the Dallas Stars won and has watched the Super Bowl my whole life. I got away from the NBA for years at a time, the same with baseball. But I've always loved the fact that in hockey the players that win the Stanley Cup each get to keep the Cup for a few days.

They make new trophies every year for every sport, except the Stanley cup. When you win, you are touching the same trophy as every person who’s name is on it.
Technically there is 3 cups. The current one is from the 70’s.

Listen, i was only football all my life until like 5 or 6 years ago. I love Lombardi, but that Stanley Cup is on another level. Not only is it massive, but there is only one and it gets passed on to the next champion. And if it had every champion on it since it started, it would be like 2 stories tall
Exactly, lifting the same trophy as every other champion is just on another level as lifting a brand new trophy that will end up belonging to your team owner or in a trophy case somewhere.
It does have every name, they just only keep 5 rings at a time because of the shear size issue. Older rings go to the Hall of Fame once a new one is needed.

KBO League in Korea has a LITERAL GIANT SWORD as their trophy. So that wins.
My first thought when i clicked in this video. Stanly cup is americas coolest but the korean baseball leagues sword is by far the coolest in the world!
That's not the actual trophy. The sword was given to the team by the owner. The real trophy looks like the MLB piece of metal, but the sword is still dope af since it's a replica of a sword from Lineage - the video game
The Stanley cup is the exact same piece of metal that has been lifted by champions since the 1890s. If another trophy can match that then I will consider it.

World Cup. Takes place every 4 years so you only have around 4 or 5 (if you’re lucky) chances to win it.

6:32 you can see it at the IMS museum. Also, the faces go all the way up on the outside of the cup part of the trophy. They added the ring bases on bottom to continue adding more faces in a checkered pattern

The Stanley Cup is generally considered the hardest trophy to win. Compound the extremely physical play, many games, and the immense skill required to do well. Also be aware of the history and age of the cup as well. Every recent team to win is engraved into its silver columns. Every season there is a new trophy for football, baseball, and basketball. There is no new Stanley Cup every season, so when you win you can really feel the history in your hands. Hands down the Stanley Cup is better than the Lombardi Trophy!

It shows its history on the body of the trophy, teams that won the Stanley Cup recently or in the past are etched on the trophy itself. Stanley cup stopped growing years ago....they drop a ring when they have to add a new one.....Stanley cup would be way bigger if all the rings from the 19th century were added.
The original Stanley Cup that was created in the 19th century is in the Hockey Hall of Fame now. It stopped getting presented in 1963

No, it's not at all. Cup dwarfs every trophy in every category. Stanley cup actually doubles as a cup. Most soccer players would get injured just lifting it. Any hockey player can play soccer (and very well) don't even think 1% of pro soccer players could even go 3 feet on the ice. Hockey players have blades on their feet, get smashed into the boards, legal to fight, take slapshots to the ankle and still play and so on. Soccer players roll around like babies if someone breaths near them. Cup wins hands down.

The ashes is great for juxtaposition. My personal favourite is the Calcutta cup (played between Scotland and England annually in rugby) for the history and the intricate designs on it

by far the cup.
I’m a hockey fan but the biggest reason I think it’s the Stanley Cup is that in other sports, they talk about how many rings you have, but in hockey they talk about how many Cups you have. The ring is so secondary.
Put it this way, in a seven game series Lombardi gets swept by the cup

Did you and others with similar comments watch the second half of the video? If you win the Indy 500 they add not only your name but also your face. Also, it's gigantic - 153 pounds of sterling silver! I know the NHL is more widely known than a single car race, but the discussion was about the trophies themselves, not the sports.

Stanley Cup has the whole history of the league attached to it, you don’t keep it, you return it and your name stays on it forever. Its by far the best!
stanley cup is the best. it's the same one they use every year so you get to touch the same trophy that all the legends touched and partied with. plus you get your name on it forever. case closed.
All of those attributes also apply to the better looking and much larger Grey Cup
But if we are basing this on purely the looks then it's either the Lombardi or the nba one

@@meladgoat maybe sometimes size matters lol but definitely doesn't matter when we are judging something on looks. For example no one would ever say Shaq looks better then Ryan Reynolds. Same thing applies to the trophies
