I donโt think people realize how big and athletic the Mavericks have gotten in the front court. Gone are the days of Dwight Powell starting at C and McGee as backup. Remember Bullock? Yeah he doesnโt play anymore and Luka made him a legit starter. Luka hasnโt had this kind of talent before and if it werenโt for injuries (Kyrie 22 games and Lively 19 games), they wouldโve had at least 7 more wins right now. Luka is a true MVP. I think teams are overlooking the Mavericks because ver since they've gotten PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford, their defensive numbers have gone up and up and up during this streak that they're on. They've won 9 of their last 10 games and they have been exceptional on the defensive end. If I was a team like the Twolves, Thunder, or Nuggets playing in the 1st round, I would not want to face Dallas in the first round because they can get hot real quick.

Plus they had a Tyson Chandler (who ironically is one of the Mavericks coaches). Also I think people are under estimating the additions of DJJ and Exum. Those guys before PJ and Gafford got here have really been good for this team. I do think that this team is pretty deep enough to make a run but I do feel like that they need a legit 3rd scorer this offseason to make it even better.

The Mavs might indeed be the most dangerous to the Nuggets. Like the Suns, they have 2 elite iso scorers. No other team in the West outside of Phoenix has that, and that's a large part in why the Suns gave them the toughest series last year. The Clippers technically have 2 or 3 elite iso scorers as well, but they're a bit of a wildcard, especially with their questionable health. I still think the Nuggets will win the West, but Mavs, Suns, and maybe the Clippers can bring them to 6.
Mavs have the wrong Tim reporting on them. Legler is infinitely more knowledgeable and likeable then MacMahon and still criticizes and priases when it's deserved

As a mavs fan, I'm still kinda skeptical. It feels like there's something missing. I'm missing that level of maturity from Luka that we expect from players who lead their team, I feel that they can have a deep playoff run with their talent but will implode on western conference finals
Luka has always been more locked in in the playoffs. If the team remains healthy, they are going to be very dangerous for any other team that they play.

โ @@baccendtyy1254 dunno, they beat the nuggets even though they struggled with shooting, and they blew out okc. gafford and pj definitely make a significant difference + they finally got healthy because theyโve struggled with injuries until the break, always had multiple dudes out and a relatively new team so it was impossible to get any continuity. luka and gafford really clicked and kidd seems to have found pretty decent rotations. it looked easier last night because pj and hardaway finally shot well, but the game on friday is going to give us a better idea
