I see Baker Mayfield's incentives are low. By restructuring contracts and putting money at the back end or after retirement. It can improve player insurance, lodging and incentives and medical benefits and allow for teams to hold on to players longer and with injuries when necessary. It will extend careers and decrease trades and free agency... which improved the sport, but also did away with, like Shannon said, "the love of the home team". people follow players now. This decrease in player contracts will also re-institute the games bruising style. I believe Marino, Elway, Young, Rice, Jordan, Magic.. etc.. all got the big money in the last 2-3 years of their contracts or after retirement in installments. And it was the way they played that got them endorsements. We have removed Butkus, Lott, Singletary, Duersons, Atwaters, and the Ray Lewis' from the game. Those big contracts could also be why they don't want them hitting or pursuing blocks in certain situations and it is altering the best formula and model for success (NFL, NBA) since the wheel.

They had a record of 2-14, the first time the team had not won 10+ games and did not go to the playoffs in 9 years. What was different that year? The Peyton Manning missed his first game of his career and missed the entire season. Two years later he broke every QB record with Denver.
Now that is a top QB. Peyton led the Colts year after year without the best roster. The proof is the one year he missed.
