I wrote the most tropical place I’ve ever been to was the restaurant called Bahama Breeze. I can’t with second grade me. I was talking about my experience as a queer woman. It would be great if she was queer but I love her either way.
On a more serious note. My daughter died in 2017, I have her memorabilia box of journals sitting behind my chair right now. I haven't been able to delve into them. Yet. My biggest hesitation comes from knowing that I'd want to discuss them with her, but if she were still here, I'd never be allowed to see them!
For everyone else sitting on a box of their own journals, know that they take on weight when you're no longer here.
I did, however, find and read her Tumblr! Looking forward to Devin's.
I'm not sure how hold your daughter was when she passed away, but I know that I would absolutely be ok with my mom reading any and all journals/stories/tumblrs I wrote if I was so no longer here. I don't even remember most of the stuff I was embarrassed about other people seeing at this point, and knowing my mom could read my thoughts and feel closer to me would be really important.

losing anyone close to you is such a painful situation. i know there’s nothing more than I want than for my parents and family to find peace and happiness in whatever scenario they are in and if that meant reading my diaries then that’s what I’d want them to do. i would be careful at how involved you become in her ‘true thoughts’ as generally journals are the upmost highlights and also the most painful lows and not much in between so bare that in mind.
i wish you and your family all the best and I hope the universe sends you good things in the future!! take care of yourself- whatever that means to you whether it’s going on a walk or just letting yourself ugly cry xxx

This was so funny! I just found some of my old journals the other day when I was packing up one of the rooms and doing a Marie kondo on my life. It was so funny to read what i thought was the most dramatic period in my life. To be honest the day i stopped journaling was the day my cousin died when I was 14...its literally the last entry. Reminds you i guess of the angst of being a teenager and how we learn about dealing with different emotions. Not to say I couldn’t start journaling again now. Thank you for this episode, it was really great.
