- In memory of Maurizio Pollini
Born January 5, 1942 in Milan into a family of artists, Pollini stormed the classical music scene in 1960 where, aged 18 and the youngest person in the contest, he won the Warsaw Chopin Competition.
Arthur Rubinstein, president of the jury, was famously to have said that the young prodigy "already plays technically better than any of us".
Master Pollini died on March 23rd, he will be dearly missed.
Great performance by this legendary pianist. He will be remembered forever. My condoleances to his family. May he play for the angels now.🎹🙏
Rest in peace, he will be forever remembered
I actually would have never imagined to hear some technical prowess as I just did from a 76 year old pianist. Rest easy maestro❤
He is the dude version of Argerich in that regard, IMO
@@retrogamerdave362 I agree, although Argerich aged a bit better in that regard…
@@MaScalo4508 I think you are right, pollini declined a lot in his last several years. Still legendary
I will miss you a LOT. R.I.P.
No, Arthur Rubinstein said "TECHNICALLY, he already plays better than any of us". "Journalists" quoted Rubinstein but forgot "technically". And so do "journalists" since Pollini, a giant among the greatest, is dead.
Thank you, I fixed it!
Many thanks. You can find Maurizio Pollini speaking himself about this mistake on KRplus in "Maurizio Pollini, De main de maître: A unique portrait of the talented Italian pianist" at 14 minutes and 41 seconds.
