    • @alwynchan5102
      @alwynchan5102 8 년 전 +14

      +Rick Astley definitely the MAIN thing to be prescribed is a meal plan that provides all the necessary nutrients and keeps calories in check.... This meal plan should consist of fresh, cooked food and not processed stuff... I am thinking the reason why people are fat is cos many ppl resort to eating a lot of processed food.... because it is cheaper and stuff....
      Definitely the gym should be part of this new lifestyle change but it should not be the main thing.... diet change should be the main thing.....
      I have struggled with weight issues for years.. and frankly.. what really made it all change is not hitting the gym like 7 days a week (which I actually did), but changing how I ate and what I ate... and when.... that was what truly caused dramatic losses in weight.

      It is because of the giant food companies who sell junk food and other addictive food products. We often don't realize it, but food ads are literally EVERYWHERE and it's so difficult to even avoid them. People get tempted so often, that it's become almost impossible for some people to stay healthy due to powerful marketing forces.
      Regulating food marketing has been shown to be effective at helping people make better food choices, but the food industry is so stubborn and literally DOES NOT CARE about public health. They lie to customers with labels like "sugar-free" "low fat", "part of this complete breakfast", which are very unreliable.
      I want the food industry to be held accountable for their relentless marketing of junk food.
      I mean, I don't eat junk foods much anymore, but I regularly see chips, sugary snacks, and soda at stores when I go grocery shopping. It's so hard to not see them.

    You wanna lose weight? It's easy. Just follow these two steps:
    1. Cut the crap. No more fast food, soda, juices, candy, cakes, cookies, etc. Eliminate it from your diet completely. It's okay to have junk food every now and then, but eating everyday is going to make / keep you fat regardless of your exercise.
    2. Exercise. Lift weights. Run. Ride a bicycle. Swim. Walk. DO SOMETHING! Being inactive is doing more harm to your body than just putting on weight.
    It's not hard guys... you don't need some bullshit program like Lindora or Weightwatchers. Those companies are selling you bullshit. Eat clean foods, and exercise and you'll lose weight. Possibly gain some muscle in the process too.

      Bob Dole It’s not that easy to lose weight. I’ve always been at a normal size and it takes a lot longer for my body to produce fat even if I eat junk food. Honestly, nobody can ever say it’s easy to lose that weight if they’ve never been in the position to lose weight.
      Junk food can become an addiction, just like cigarettes. Erasing unhealthy food from your diet is just as hard as throwing that cigarette down and not pulling out another.
      Exercise, while yes it can help with weight loss, it takes an extreme amount of years and mental strength to force your body to comply. Weightwatches CAN help. My mother was obese, but she’s lost 23 pounds just by sticking to a healthy diet. She does go to the gym every so often, but’s really not necessary.

      @@mapuiiralte4664 Listen. Some people are fat because of the awful quality of what they eat, for real. If they would eat healthier food it would not be a problem that they would eat a little more of it! For example, it won't do wrong to have a bit too much fruit, salad or guamacole. So no guilt about that. But it will certainly do you wrong to have too much fast food or sugar. Society does not tell about this, especialy if there is not a healthy eating culture and awareness. In some countries, eating healthy is tradition. Then it is also genetics. But mostly nutrition, controlled levels of stress, keeping active.

    I made the decision to lose weight earlier this year and so far I've lost 45 pounds. One thing you really need is a lot of motivation. I got tired of my clothes being to small and was tired of being overweight. It's not a quick fix it's a lifestyle change really. To make weight lost fun you got to be active, i used to hate playing basketball with my friends but now i love it because its good exercise and it's fun. I used to eat a lot of fast food everyday all day. Now i buy groceries and watch the calories i take in (after a while you can pretty much stop counting calories because you can estimate if you're under your calorie budget). I'm telling you losing weight is definitely one of the best health decisions I've ever made. You can do it too!

      And you are right, you don't need to always watch what you eat, and it doesn't have to be that difficult. If you eat less but often, keep the calories (for me) below 1600 a day while exercising an hour a day on the side your weight will drop rapidly.
      And yeah, it gets fun when you get in to it, it is only your brain that is stopping you from losing weight.
      I am 6.1ft tall and weight 105kg (231lbs) at the moment, according to BMI i should be in a healthy weight in 20kg, still way to go, but loving it so far.

    I follow the gentleman's advice of not eating things that my grandmother would not have recognized as food. It's not very complicated and actually it is much cheaper. Most of the meals were homemade and easy to prepare. We ate lots of fruits, soups, beans, cheese, eggs, fish, poultry and once in awhile red meats. Pancakes were a treat on weekends and we would eat out twice a week if that. We bought our bread at the local bakeries fresh out of the oven. There wasn't much can foods or things wrapped in plastic. A lot of people complain that they don't have the time for this lifestyle, but I disagree. Even if I am press for time, I can walk to a supermarket grab a banana, water, a soup with some bread and pay six dollars. It's less expensive than most fast food joints.

      @@cameronhines4562 There is ample evidence that the powerful food marketing forces are responsible for the population's obesity crisis.
      They market unhealthy food EVERYWHERE and people cannot avoid it because of how prevalent that junk food ads are. It's like cigarettes- junk food is VERY addictive and often hard to quit because of how they're designed to be addictive.
      If we want to solve the obesity crisis, we need to fight against the greedy food giants and demand that they limit their marketing, such as banning fast foods from coming to schools, and putting warning labels on high sugar drinks like sodas, such as "This product is addictive and can lead to health problems such as obesity and diabetes.
      My point is not that junk food should be banned, but they should be highly regulated and that the public deserves to have a better food environment to live in.

    It’s actually sad because I was big as kid and in my early 20s, but when I went to Europe for 6 months I lost weight. I came back to America and realized just how big everyone and everything is. Before I get any further into this. I weighted about 220 pounds! When I came home I weighted 142 pounds and I did nothing special abroad either. I just hung out with friends and partaken in social activities much like I did back home. The only difference was the portions I consumed. I ate a fraction of what I ate back home. I ate like a European and my body healed itself. I had more energy, sharper mind and felt better than I ever have. Looked way better as well. It’s simple honestly. Americans eat way to much. I will tell you what I ate today. 2 eggs for breakfast plus a piece of toast with butter, lunch a sandwich with turkey and for dinner a bowl of rice with backed chicken strips and vegetables with a sour sauce. Nothing else but water and 3 cups of coffee and worked in the scorching heat for 10 hours since I do heating and air work.

Not only that, I have also notice that, thanks to American influence, the food portions are getting bigger. Much bigger. So add American imported fast food, easy style eating habits with those habits being big enough for two people to eat, and there you have it. Americans are already fat, Europeans are slowly getting there too. I guess Asia will follow.

      That and some of us don't find any enjoyment in it and thus lose interest. It's hard to keep to something you don't enjoy.
      Also, 30 mins a day isn't enough to lose weight. You gotta work out for at least an hour and eat ALL the right foods! (Which can be difficult to figure out what IS the right foods because so many weight loss programs tell you so many different things!) If you can't eat all the right food, then you end up restricting yourself. Seriously, I ended up doing that because my mom is the one who buys the food, and she won't change what food she buys because I wanna lose weight. She thinks that all it takes it exercise when it's more than that. (Plus I'm really impatient and if I don't see results within at least a week, then I lose motivation.) The longest I've lasted was a month. For many people, it's not really difficult to actually exercise-what's difficult is keeping the stamina and motivation to do it.

    • @PungiFungi
      @PungiFungi 9 년 전

      Misti D , exercise to lose weight is a losing proposition if you rely on exercise alone.
      To lose weight you have to eat less...and to eat less, you have to eat slowly to make the smaller portions be filling, and you have to pay attention to your body. Once you are no longer hungry, stop eating. I mean so many of us eat out of BOREDOM or for the pleasure of eating.
      As for exercise, the simplest thing is go outside and take a walk.

    • @mistid1485
      @mistid1485 9 년 전

      PungiFungi Yeah I know. That's what my comment was about. Thing is in the past when I would do that, my mom would be concerned that I was turning anorexic, although I still ate my three meals a day...just in smaller portions. I would also skip snack most of the time but that was pretty much it.
      Ha...maybe for you but I've tried just walking. It's not nearly as effective as an hour long body workout. I need to see results quickly or I lose motivation.

    • @PungiFungi
      @PungiFungi 9 년 전

      Misti D , but I think the hour long workout, while more effective than a walk, is what turned people off...too much work with results coming in too slow. At least the walk is much easier and people will probably find it much easier to stick with it.

    • @mistid1485
      @mistid1485 9 년 전

      PungiFungi Eh...walks don't really work. It can help lose some weight but depending on how much you're trying to lose, it won't make much of a difference if you're trying to lose a lot.

And when i was looking for clothes, I noticed the Texan "large" size is the same as XXL back home in Sweden. My question now is: Is it like that in most parts of the US? I believe 36(?) % of US citizens are obese. And don't get me wrong, we have fat people here too, 11 % of our population is obese.
