Wrote this song while in Hawaii in February 2021 with Kinetics & One Love. We were surrounded by coqui frogs singing to us, the sound of rain hitting the roof, and pure connection. I wanted to make a song to describe the stage of moving through a tunnel of familiar hymns and imagery to ease the transition into the other side while also writing something with multiple meaning that people can relate to in a more earthly way. This song was leaked through a drop box hack the same year, and it took everything within me to not trash it. I couldn't rewrite a better tunnel song so it stayed.

Watching this I feel so nostalgic, having been here since the "somewhat" beginning to see Melanie grow into the artist she is today makes me cry tears of joy. Shes doing so amazing and seeing her make music she loves makes me so proud and listening to it feels like a reward!
I’ve read that this is written about the response to The Bakery music video. The first part “Follow the tunnel into the portal. Lay all your burdens to rest.” Reminds me of last night whenever I had my first ever hypnotherapy session type ordeal. The lady said that whenever I opened the door, I would follow this long tunnel towards a light. She said whenever I made it to that light, I would be visualizing myself in that past life. Im a freshman in highschool (14 y.o.) and I play the violin in the school orchestra. Ive been playing for four years. I'm currently writing sheet music for this song (for my own personal use of course, im not selling it) This is one of my favorite songs from PORTALS. I cant wait to show my orchestra teacher!
