This planet is in a constant state of change, this ball of rock we live on used to be covered head to toe in molten lava and has been dealt numerous extinction level events, yet this planet still thrives. Climates change regardless of human intervention. We will either be long dead as a species or have moved on to inhabit many worlds by the time we doom this planet. It will be quite some time before we will even have the ability to destroy this planet.

Not only it helps a little, but it helps raise awareness, promote good habits, send the right signals to markets... I think there are a lot of good secondary consequences to individual lifestyle changes, as long as we know they are insufficient and don't get too fanatic about them.

I don’t think that that’s the problem, we are fully capable of influencing politicians. The problem would lie more with people not being able to afford being climate-friendly, and so they do not vote for green parties. And their reason is valid. It’s more than just disadvantages to poor people, some changes can impact them pretty badly…

But yeah on an individual level we can't fix climate change it needs to be done on a government level.

And yet climate change isn't. The dinosaurs were around for close to two hundred million years. They were clearly fine with global mean temperatures 10°C higher than today (CO2 levels were 3-4 times higher back then). Burning ALL the fossil fuels in the ground would raise current temperatures by roughly 10°C. If the dinos can survive it, I'm confident we can too. And we have air conditioning.

But still, we're indirectly and collectively responsible. In the end, companies build products for us to consume. Cars, oil, transport, meat, houses... That's the problem, that we can't stop emissions right now without vastly changing our lifestyles.

yeah, if you think about it in a place like california that tried to implement regulations towards climate change and stuff like that ended up loosing population that migrated to texas, and several other states just because the cost of life was increasing a lot and taxes were very high. so you cant just "impose regulations" or "promote green energy" without fucking up the population (or at least for now).
i really want a solution for the way of "you emmit, you pay" in a global scale that increases over time and makes contaminating industries no loger profitable in all of the world.

Also today’s agriculture relies on feed which is not good for the environment to produce. Grass fed animals are very beneficial tho since grass traps insane amounts of carbo from the atmosphere. More than what the cows fart since it’s a feedback loop. Cow farts turn into trapped carbon in grass then the cows eat the grass and fart it back out but not all grass is eated so there’s more carbon trapped then is taken out of the soil. Natural food for cows produces better quality meat too

It also doesn't really address the major elephant in the room:
Mono-crop agriculture is just as destructive if not more so than factory farming. So not even the vegans can hold their heads high.

What do you mean it isn't much? We need every bit of possible way to solve the issue. But of course, the vegans are heroes in their own minds, so we can't tell them about this.

Here in austria there is a app where you can upload your leftovers and people who are in need can come and pick it up! But since corona that also lost a bit of population... I hope other countries can try things like these too!
