What’s the movie about?
Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire), a shy and nerdy high school student, develops spider-like superhuman abilities after being bitten by a genetically-altered spider. After a tragedy falls on his family, he must put his abilities to use in order to fight evil.

Something crazy is that at 0:57 if you pause it real fast, you can see the Twin Towers in the back left! I guess they never caught that since it was moving so fast in the scene. I know also that in one of the original trailers, you could see the in the reflection of Spider-Man’s eyes, but they got rid of that trailer when 9/11 took place.
Back to what I was meaning to say though: such a great movie

he has the most organic yet powerful powers compare to any other spider
I forgot this was the version of Spider-Man where he shoots webs from his body. I think the comic book always had web shooters, but i guess if you are going to buy into a kid getting super spider powers that a high tensile line dispensed from a micro canister embedded in a wrist mounted delivery system is less believable then his body making its own web material and is also able to expel it hundreds of feet. Sure hope he stays hydrated
When you get super powers for the first time, this is how it should be: awesome, clumsy, and fun as hell.

Would be an interesting dynamic, of a street hero whose been doing this for years, way before the 1% heroes of the Avengers decided to make it a huge thing.

I remember the time when people didn't use to compare anything if it was from a comic or not just was happy to see spiderman in action can't say the same for next others too especially, andrew got bullied the most due to that and it's not like tobey's movies weren't good or something just the comparing and then hating on that basis that thing I never liked.
I know Spider-Man couldn't shoot natural webs in the comics, but I think he should be able to shoot natural webs, that's the best part of Spider-Man and the fact that he used some machine in the comics I find lame. I will defend him shooting natural webs to the very end.

I guess what I meant by sci-fi realism is that we accept just enough of the wacky stuff so that the main premise can still exist. And then adhere to “realism” after that. So I suppose Spiderman should have had multiple sets of eyes and additional limbs as well. Among other things…
@@ryok8090 actually, spiders have a natural organ around the area of their abdomen’s tip called spinerrets that makes the webbing. His powers manifested those spinnerets on his arms instead of his butt, probably because the DNA changes got some things switched around when manifesting.

Am I really the only one who finds it hilarious that 1:02 and 1:07 he looks like an actual spider running 😂 (but only four "legs" of course)
never understood how those spikes helped him plant his shoes to the wall.
He was probably clinging to the wall through his hands alone and just had his feet for balance. He's pretty strong at this point so he probably could've supported all his weight on one hand no problem.

I don’t like how they went from him actually having spider powers (like shooting webs from his actually hand) to him relying on technology (like shooting webs from a web-shooter instead of his actually hand).
You have it the wrong way around. Spider-man always used web shooters. But in these films they changed it to a power which was pretty controversial among fans at the time, and also kinda gross. So I’m glad they dropped that concept quickly.

This film just directly showed all the powers he gained after the mutation.
@@blasterahmes3775 That is true. There are countless versions and variants of Peter Parker Spider-man. I think the web shooters are probably more popular. That's why they've mostly gone back to them in a lot of recent media. (TASM, MCU, PS4.)
