That baby should have kept quiet when the parents weren’t around, it was making too much noise and moving a lot. Normally I see the chicks quiet and lying down and only move when they sense the parents land on the nest.
Survival of the fittest. It obviously wasn't good at what it should've been good at.
Thats why animal parents kill the weaker babies cuz they only a liability . But this was the only child so it got a pass

First time I've seen that one. Usually the predators come right up to the nest and yank the kids out. Never seen one tear out the bottom of the nest to get to the baby instead.
I was watching for a lizard to come up over the top of the nest to strike and grab the bird.....not this lizard! He shredded a hole through the bottom of that nest so quick that by the time I realized that's what was going on, he had the baby bird already and was GONE!

in the Philippines we call that bird palagoo it usually nest high up in a mango tree or pili tree back then we would catch one and keep it as pets they make good pets like a pigeon they know how to come back to their owners.
