The ghost story horror film is set at a winter sale in a department store where customers, from a lonely divorcee (Jean Baptiste) to the wife (Squires) of a washing machine repairman end us being cursed by a scarlet dress.

The art design is something else. I love the shop, it's the 70's reincarnated. The tube mail for exchange money is brilliantly extravagant. I wish we could have those experiences in retail shopping again. The feeling isn't the same anymore, buying everything online.

I remember a similar plot from a USA tv movie from 1990 called I'm Dangerous Tonight about a cursed Aztec cloak that Madchen Amick sews into an evening dress.

a fun watch, some interesting ideas, some good comedic moments, great music, beautifully shot and acted for the most part, but overall meh in my opinion. lots to like about it for sure, but just a bit of a mess. in the Q and A, the way peter strickland talked about it just made it seem like he put together a mish-mash of things he thought were fun. i think... worth a watch despite not loving it.
i completely agree, although i enjoyed it more than a "meh." Dying to get my hands on the score.
