There are way better companies than Blue Origin to compete with SpaceX. Actually thinking that there is only SpaceX and Blue Origin is really ignorant. I will say the main competitor to SpaceX is Rocket Lab now, because they steal much of the cubesat industry from SpaceX.

@@graullas8981 Rocketlab for cubesats (although they are tailored towards different types of customers), ULA for military contracts, Ariane 5 for GEO communication satellites. The launch industry is much larger than just 1 company.

@@clancy5600 What about Northrop Grumman? Their Antares rocket and Cygnus spacecraft is very useful for resupplying the ISS. Perhaps Antares will get replaced by a more reusable rocket in the future, but Cygnus will continue to be important for people living on the ISS or perhaps future space stations.

This should be the last uncrewed test flight before the crewed one.

The decision to sent people to space is not up to Blue, I don't believe. They are required to get FAA and other approvals in order to send crew to space from US soil.
I am sort of happy private companies need government approval. If not, I can see a lot of companies doing things on the slide just to reap profits and send people up before they are ready. This at least puts everyone on a level playing field.....but does hurt smaller, less profitable companies to get in the game as they do not have long term reserves of cash to conduct all the necessary testing and procedures before final approval. Just look at Dream Chaser as well as others who jumped into the game and finally gave up.

@Eduard van Sligtenhorst first stages are easiest to reuse, so you want liquid fuel becouse reusing SRB is kinda pointless. And upper stages must be precise. But abort system is perfect fit

Bezos got over 4X the money Elon did for the HLS, and still lost. The protest won't change anything except maybe (a) get politicians crying for more money for Artemis, that will (b) go toward Bezos and Dynetics. NS is nothing but marketing and space tourism.
Screw Starship, look at F9 and FH since Bezos started the NS program. There's a huge difference between orbital and "let's just dip over the Karman Line."
I'm all for competition, and I'm definitely on Team Space - but you dissing Starship for exploding is weak. Learn the difference between an iterative process where failure is always an option, vs. NASA, Bezos, Boeing, NG, etc. Compare the development timelines AND the safety records of F9 and Starship v. SLS, Artemis, Blue Oreos, and Starliner.
You can be happy about what another group does without slagging someone else. And slagging SpaceX just shows how ignorant you are.

Also Shepard was built for a completely different purpose than SpaceX. Shepard was meant to provide space travel at a much more affordable price (for rich ppl ofc) and SpaceX is focused on putting the next man/woman on the moon and delivering payloads/people to the ISS.

The artemis program. We will go to the Moon in 2024, first woman. Then a few years later we will build a permanent settlement there. I'm sure China and Russia will do it, too.

@@brendanariki ​ @Blu idk if you've been paying attention but blue origin is part of the artemis program, they will most likely build the lander to put humans on the moon. 2024 is not realistic, and I have a strong suspicion Blue origin is gonna be the one resposible for delay. the company is older than spaceX and they havent launched humans not even sub-orbital yet.

Sure it (barely) reaches space, New Shepard reaches ~105km on a suborbital trajectory and they want to reach orbit (if you mean that by "fully") using New Glenn. New Shepard is different and they never intended to use it like a Falcon 9. You can't judge a rocket by goals it was never supposed to reach and it's definitely not outdated.

@@falafeldurum2095 development of starship started in 2016, while development of the raptor engine started in 2012. and bo are expecting a first launch of new glenn in late 2022. bo are definetly making some progress, but they are taking the nasa approach, they are going slow, and spend a lot of time and money researching. spacex on the other hand go fast, use all the data that they get from launches and are able to develop a rocket very quickly, and relatively cheap. spacex are expecting an orbital launch of starship in july 2021, about 5 years after development of the rocket started. bo are aiming for a launch in 2022 or 2023, roughly 10 years after development started

Yep, a very long haul. Founded in 2000 and not a single regular flight yet.
Spacex: founded in 2002; biggest commercial launch provider, flies astronauts to the ISS
Rocket Lab: founded in 2006; 18 commercial launches to orbit
Virgin Galactic/Orbital: founded in 2004; 1 commercial flight to orbit so far; still in test phase for human flights to edge of space

Blue Origin and Spacex isnt even competiting for same thing. Blue origin is primarily for tourism.

I guess you didn't watch the video. There were different tests for different flights. Only 2-3 were repeats for system tests.

They have even done multiple safe manned orbital spaceflights, BO hasn't reached orbit or put a human into space
