  • Blue Origin successfully completed its 15th consecutive mission to space and back today and conducted a series of simulations to rehearse astronaut movements and operations for future flights with customers on board. This mission marked a verification step prior to flying astronauts.
    For the first time, Blue Origin personnel standing in as astronauts entered the capsule prior to launch. These astronauts conducted a series of tests from within the capsule including a comms check with the Capsule Communicator (CAPCOM), procedures for entering and exiting the capsule, and pre-launch preparations within the capsule. Following the crew capsule landing, the astronauts rehearsed post-flight procedures, hatch opening, and exiting the capsule.

    If Blue Origin wants to sell seats on these flights, put some 4k camera onboard to show what the customer can see from the craft. Right now, all we got are a bunch of blurry videos. Great flight, but presentation-wise need much improvement.

    • @RWBHere
      @RWBHere 3 년 전

      True. No onboard shots at all. 🤔 Cameras on the outside are also spectacular, and they don't cost much in comparison to the rocket fuel.

    • @spanke2999
      @spanke2999 3 년 전

      but to be fair... if they sell the view, then putting cameras for the public on it, is not the smartest move. But then... we all have seen what you can see there in several other videos. The adrenaline rush will cause most people to forget the few minutes anyway. all that will be there as a reminder is the integrated camera system taking pictures of the paying customer.
      So the point is...when you are spending 300,000 US dollars on a home video that shows you 'in space' then BO has zero interest in giving these videos out for free!
      side note... I honestly fail to see why anybody would spend money on this little joy ride. I honestly can't understand it.

If one of them for example supports a cold war (which killed hundred of millions in the last cold war) and supports a violent military coup in Bolivia for a better deal for lithium like the short lived coup in 2019, hoping for support from a cold war faction only encourages and confirms world wide noncooperation for space endeavors.
      This is a reason why I mainly support projects and institutions that actively encourage international cooperation, over projects that encourage imperialism at home and tries to take advantage of nondemocratic coups.

      Even after MECO it should going upwards for quite a while it probably Separates about when it stops increasing in altitude.

      No need to hurry since there's no 2nd stage to light and get out of the way. Can take time to make sure everything is going well before separation.

    It's always cool to see rockets fly, especially ones that land. But I wonder if this supersonic roller coaster is capable of generating enough money before New Glenn is finished, because it looks like there's a lot more to build, test and validate, and a lot of money has to go in everything at Blue Origin.

    Fair bit of wobble right after BE-3 startup. Probably because the fins are in the slipstream of the rocket, but it's still surprising to see so much amplitude and multiple full oscillations. When BO reenters from orbit there will be far more horizontal velocity and we should see some angle of attack which gets the fins away from the turbulent slipstream.
    Nice touchdown.
    Looking forward to orbital operations, which is where your competition is.
    It's hard to see the relationship between velocity in mph and altitude in feet. Can you show velocity in feet/sec or better still m/s and m altitude?

      @@kirkc9643 Yes, New Shephard is less capable than Falcon 1.

    Why are they in West Texas? Everyone else seems to launch at the coast. Which I thought was for safety and to keep noise away from land as much as possible. But there may not be much going on in West Texas where they are.
    Do these launches create sonic booms like the Concorde? I didn't hear anything.
