I'm an android user looking into getting an iPhone. The lack of RCS and purposely hindered communication with android folks is something I've been against ethically for a long time. The fact they're finally letting up on these restrictions is actually making me consider an iPhone. Apple should be rewarded for consumer friendliness. Whether it's because they're getting sued or not, I want a product that works for me and this is a big big step. The other big step was usb-c. If siri is better in ios 18, I will DEFINITELY finally be trying ios. I love the animations and polish of apple software. Hopefully they stop the anti-consumer crap.

I'd love for Apple to have a theme store with different icon packs for IOS. I'd love a retro looking apple theme with old icons.
Yes I agree as iPhone is lacking in customisation with themes and animations and icon themes. They have updated the ringtones and text tones last year I think which are better than the classic sounds. Apple has a long way with these future builds. Another theory was that our phones were going to have the same interface as Apple Vision Pro theme. So many changes in thoughts but hopefully we get a better iOS β€

@@BrandonButch I was expecting these Siri updates to mean I can ask it things like "Write me a story with dialogue about all the slick updates announced at WWDC24" without it being created as a note. It'll be very disappointing if Siri doesn't catch up to Copilot/Gemini/ChatGPT.
β@@techwithtyler20Nope, that was never expected with Siri. The AI features are going to be built-in to apps/functions that you use on the iPhone. If anything, Apple will use Gemini or another source for a "chatbot" style integration

I thought the rumors were that you'd be able to ask Siri/type into Spotlight natural language queries like you can with ChatGPT/Copilot/Gemini. I guess we're still very far away from being able to ask Siri to write AI-generated stories, generate images, etc.

Ok - minor gripe: Can you please change the angle of the devices on the self over your left shoulder on the shelf above the statuette? Every time you move your left arm, light reflects off your watch which then reflects off the device in the background. Itβs oddly distracting.

My rule of thumb with Apple products is, if you feel like you have to ask if itβs okay to purchase the product , just go ahead and wait π€£ or buy now and feel bad if it eventually releases shortly after π€£

For all current features, the M1 chip in the Air 5/2021 Pro/the M2 chip in the 2022 Pro are good options. It's not guaranteed that the M1/M2 will be able to run any on-device AI features, but as we always hear, buy it for what it can do today (or in the latest confirmed upcoming update), not what it's rumored to be able to do in the future.
I think iPad Air is coming out in May.. Iβm waiting for iPad Air 2024! Right now I have iPad Air 2022.. it runs great but new iPad Air isnβt for me it for my spouse.
I think it would be so cool if they started the new AI intro video with Siri being asked to do something but unable toβ¦ (like almost always) and then the new Siri come in like: βstep aside, I got thisβ

Apparently Siri won't have generative AI as I thought/hoped.
Doubt it this is probably outlandish but hopefully they announce a competitor to magic eraser in the photos app and the wws being combined kinda reminds me of the swipe pattern you do to erase things out of your photos on android.

One thing Iβm wondering with the AI features is itβs rumored the iPhone 16 Pro chips will have better AI capabilities built in to the chip itself. So how will iPhones without that chip, the A18 Pro, handle these new AI features? Will an improved AI based Siri still work just fine with other iPhones from the 12 series on as with the iPhone 16 Pro?
Also, RCS is a major win for cross platform compatibility and competition in the space. Canβt wait to try it out!

That would be very easy to implement if it's anything like macOS 14's monochromatic widgets. It would be as simple as applying a grayscale filter and a what's-behind-it blur effect.

WW could mean the release of Car Play 2 to auto makers to package and push an update to cars
They need to revamp the contacts app. A lot of useless clicks just to block or delete a contact. Canβt delete an imessage when you search the message
And I can't unmute someone I accidentally muted on KRplus...
The design of the contacts app is still good--it's just the backend that could use a rewrite since there's some bugs.
You can never get your hopes up when it comes to apple.
As others mentioned, the MM could be a merge of M processors to mobile, Maybe they do a MM1 or something instead of M1, basically a mobile m1 mm1. Who knows, however AI is what excites me the most, Siri is quite shit, but the addition of new matter products and Apple homekit being everywhere now, an AI siri would be suuuuch an amazing addition to homekit. I love it
