Dude I had the very same condition as Jenny last year around the same time last year called Epiglottitis. Started as a sore throat by day 2 went to urgent care they thought it was strep and sent me home, 5 hours later I was having trouble breathing and sounded like Kermit the frog. At that point I'm like dude I'm dying drove myself to the ER. Was in the ICU for 3 days and they said the same thing. If I had waited my throat would've swollen shut. They treat you in ICU because any additional flare up can bring it back. Steroids and Antibiotics addressed it. I-V for several days then soup. It's a rare disease caused by contact with bacteria in the wrong place, like a perfect storm. I think mine came from drinking off of unclean cans. It couldn't have been as bad as her because I didnt need surgery but, I know the vibes. Scary stuff.

The EXACT same thing happened to me when I was stationed overseas in Germany. I had tonsillitis and an abscess in my throat to where I could barely breathe and couldn't talk. My Army doctor sent me back to work and told me I was fine. That same day I went to see a German ENT Doctor was told I had to get emergency surgery that night. They said it was the biggest abscess they've seen in a long time and I could've died had I let it go on any longer. So I know what that it like, personally.
