I have a testimony. I am a black software developer and these tech interviews are grueling. They study you to the point where you are uncomfortable and they already have in mind who they want to hire. Not to mention my college never prepared me for the whiteboard portion which is a huge part. Thankfully in my current position, I was hired by a fellow black software developer and it was one of the best experiences I ever had. We talked and kept it real with each other and when he asked me questions to test my knowledge it was smooth that I was able to show him what I know. Now I am a Sr Developer.

so, yeah. Ro Khanna is awesome. He is one of only about a dozen congressmen in America that are funded by small-dollar-donations and not the billionaires, corporations, or lobbyists. Ro Khanna could easily win a California Senate seat in an election, and he will probably be a future President despite the whining of the Clinton, Kamala, and Platitudes-pete crowd who don't care if politicians are Bought & Owned and status-quo.

Appreciate the talk. As a black man who is in tech, I want to emphasize one point. You need to realize that there are elements in the industry that are hostile to POC and ESPECIALLY black men. So often these talks just assume white managers are just neutral actors who objectively assess candidates. What happens in reality is white managers often work behind the scenes to help the "right people" get in, get the skills, get the contracts, etc.

@@Rashaadthegr8 You asked "Question to the group while all y'all won't just come together..."
Are you talking about the people in this comment section, or POC in general?
If you are talking about just the people in this comment section, who's to say we're even in the same disciplines?
If you're talking about POC in general, then yes, "coming together" and implementing group economics on a societal scale may resolve this issue (and is probably the only real way to do it), but HOW EXACTLY do we come together? If you have the answer to it, please share (or even better, put your solution into action)
Another misconception is that starting your own business is the way out. I can speak for myself. If I opened my own consulting firm today in this white dominated industry, can you guess what color my clients are going to be? So its the same issue, except now you don't even have health insurance or a stable income.

Ro khanna's idea is the best way to go for the black community. Giving out monthly stipend like Yang's idea isn't going to push the black forward or shorten the wealth gap between a black and white household.
My fear is as AI gets better quick, there won't be enough time for black ppl to catch up or build wealth. So the black community will need to diversify in careers that creates wealth.

He’s much more pro black in policy than almost any black politician around, ilhan Omar maybe as an exception.

That HBCU talking point is a Trojan horse for hiring mostly non-ADOS people. Silicon Valley needs to, firstly, hire locally in the East Baby with a high concentration of ADOS people and, secondly, they need to simply train working age people and not simply fresh out of high school applicants.
