With EBT cards you can get free money toward farmers market. Doesn't take anything from your EBT
Your allotment is based on your household size.
A major issue is access and education. There are a lot more nutritional programs now that folks don't know about. More effort has to be made in outreach so people know these options are there.

The sugary drinks, the hot pockets, etc. Were I say we need to intervene is showing people how to make healthy shit, the long term affects of eating healthier, and the impact on the whole community.

If to can afford a Big bag of chips, you can afford an apple. If to can afford a can of soda, you can afford a bottle of water. If you can afford a burger and fries, you can afford a chicken salad. If you don’t have time or the money to eat right most of the time ,and work out with some regularity, then you also don’t have time to be alive. After being on both sides of the fence, I can tell you that it isn't always that simple. A big bag of chips can hold you for half the day. An apple can hold you for an hour, maybe 2 hours. Soda will excite you enough to complete whatever task you have, while water will just go right through you. That burger and fries will be WAY more filling than the salad. It may be more than they NEED, but food insecurity makes you over-indulge whenever you can. The result is, people have to pile up on healthy stuff, in order to feel satiated, which results in having to spend more money. And going to the store more often for fresh products isn't convenient for everybody. You can waste a lot of time and money while figuring out what diet and routine works best for you. Especially if you didn't grow up with nutritional education. Like I did.

Maybe come up with an app to help people better track their spending, the same way our bank cards break down our spending. Ultimately the power is with the people and their choices .
