Yes - however, Progressives need to get out and VOTE. I think this primary challenge to incumbents in solid blue districts has been a really great strategy, and hopefully it'll continue to work. I do have to say, I'm not so bothered by Pelosi as I am Senator Diane Feinstein, but if a really great Progressives/Justice Democrat challenges Pelosi, they're getting my vote. For Feinstein, however, I'll vote for anybody over her next time (but I'm hoping she'll retire soon). And I love Jamaal, and am so excited for him and the people of NY who are sending him to DC to fight for them

The time to challenge Pelosi was MONTHS AGO. Case in point: Jamal Bowman and AOC. That's the time to do that. That's the opportunity to do that. Show up in August if you want Pelosi out.

The Opportunity Zone does not provide any of this. It is a tax break for wealthy investors that invest in designated Opportunity Zones. An investor must invest through an Opportunity Fund, which is typically set up with capital gains from the sale of another asset. Investing in an Opportunity Zone is expensive from the outset which disqualifies most investors. Also there is no requirement that people in the neighborhood must be employed, nor is there an affordable housing requirement.
What most communities are seeing is development of luxury housing that is too expensive for the people that live in the neighborhood. Opportunity Zones are actually accelerating gentrification.

That may be what they are saying, however I work in commercial real estate. Developers nationwide are buying sites in Opportunity Zones and are developing. They are not adhering to any rules regarding who lives there and are doing 100% luxury buildings. I can tell you building after building in NYC and NJ that we’re built in Opportunity Zones. And they didn’t benefit the people of that neighborhood one bit
