Prince had hip issues and didn’t take care of it. He was in extreme pain and needed a hip replacement. He sought out providers that would give him the meds to get through and overdid it. I can’t imagine the pain (although I have some hip and other injuries). He did lots of splits/his dance style and didn’t want to stop and get surgery (which is understandable). This is what I heard from various hip physical therapists in his home city where I reside. Maybe he was murdered; not what I heard though 💜from Minneapolis

The Scooter Braun situation is messed up because Taylor had the money to buy her own masters but her record label would not allow her to buy them. The issue was that Taylor was in the process of leaving her label big machine records and they said that she had to do additional albums and stay with that record label so that she could earn her masters back one album at a time. Basically she would have to put out new albums just to earn each previous album back one by one. They were trying to manipulate her into staying instead of just giving her the masters that she could clearly afford. They wanted to keep her because she was their biggest artist. The purchase of her masters was business- I think that much we can all admit but if we all knew the facts about this situation I don’t think we’d be so quick to disregard Taylor’s frustration. Also I think it’s kind a messed up how some people say the music industry is so corrupt, that they don’t allow people to own their music but when “America’s sweetheart” Taylor Swift talks about it everybody tells her to stop complaining. I understand that it’s business and a lot of times business deals don’t have a moral code but she has the right to voice her frustration.

Business is business. I don't care if it's Kanye, Swift, New Edition, etc. once you sign that paperwork then that's a wrap until renegotiations (if applicable) come into play. Yes, it stinks to have songs you crafted owned by someone else. However, if you SIGNED on the dotted line then the owners are free to do what they will with the property that they own.
I mean how many episodes of Unsung, Behind the Music, Where Are They Now? and other documentaries on musical artists have covered this scenario time and time again? Swift isn't the first artist to not have control over her masters, and she certainly isn't going to be the last.
Feeling some type of way because SHE wasn't offered the chance to buy her masters, but then they're sold to someone else is a bit annoying. Yeah, I could see why she'd be pissed (I know I would), but kind of like Mo'Nique and Netflix; if you don't like the offer on the table just take your act somewhere else. I love the breakfast club but I am frankly disappointed with the treatment of Taylor swift's master's story on the show. First, the way things are presented makes her seem like an entitled child which people mostly do to women who have an opinion and speak up about it. Second, the facts presented are simply not complete! The reason for her annoyance isn't that the masters got sold AGAIN but that she didn't get a chance to buy them AGAIN. It is incredibly messed up that a man would want to make a woman sign an NDA for her to only say nice things about him so that she could even get a chance of owning her own songs. Songs that she wrote. I understand that Taylor Swift is not really liked on the show, but to make her look ridiculous is dangerous for all the other artists that don't have a platform. And to say that this is just the way things are is simply not enough! Just because things have been the same way for a while doesn't make it right or fair. It is troubling to me that when an artist fights for what is right, and for a more fair way to do things they are not supported especially when a lot of Hip Hop artists are being affected by it. It is business, the issue was that they did not offer her to buy her own music. The Industry is nothing without the Artists, real Artists.
She couldn’t afford to offer the best deal. So they didn’t sell the masters back to her. In the same respect, Danny, you should not be required to sell your home back to the builder at lower than asking price simply because they built it. There is no issue other than Taylor was uninformed about how legal contracts work.
