The two heros were dlc for the original Xbox version of the game. I think this is misinformation unless you're claiming the original devs stole them.
β @@gillboy5762 I can clear this up! Instead of actually including the old dlc, they used an outdated version of a fan-mod that added the content to PC, you can tell because the animations for the heroes are broken and donβt match exactly how they were supposed to look.
yes but they were brought to pc as a mod, then the original devs of the games gave the modder ALL of the assets of these dlc characters and maps so that he could make the mod better, then aspyr shamelessly just took those mods with no credits@@gillboy5762

Not only did they steal work from a modder without credit, but they fucked even that up and took a buggy version of their work!
It gets even better with just how bad of a job this "remaster" is regarding the console exclusive characters.
Asajj Ventress is was literally just a skin swap using a community made mod of another character.
People even data mined the game and found it.
So the devs stole a mod and put that in the game and tried to pass it of as their work.

Those in the corporate sphere at the top making these decisions do not play or really even care about gaming. Its purely a product. So when they see the Battlefront games havent sold to their expectations they don't see that its the quality of the game. They just see "Battlefront doesnt sell," look at what their data analysts say, and move on.
The thing with this version that makes it a "Remaster" is that they AI UPSCALED THE TEXTURES.

The really sad part is this isn't even remotely the first time a "remaster" of this low quality has happened. It's just another one on the pile of Silent Hill HD Collection, GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition and many, many more. And much like the GTA Trilogy debacle we know that a lot of the problems come from it just being badly AI upscaled.
At the very least, it was nice that the classic Battlefront 1 and 2 were coming to consoles that didn't have it in the first place, like PS4/5, Switch, etc. On paper as long as they didn't fuck up the original games it would have been at the very least salvagable, but they absolutely butchered the online and increased the file size 60+ gb making these games inferior to the releases 20 years ago. Total bullshit.

If it makes you feel any better Bricky, Aspyr was already being "punished" by having the KOTOR Remake literally being ripped from them and given to another studio due to basically being fuck-ups, all of that happening BEFORE Classic Edition came out and whoever greenlit that ripping is probably really fucking happy they did that.
If I remember correctly, Aspyr was responsible for bringing kotor1 to the iPad. I played kotor as a kid on the ipad and I remember seeing aspyr listed as the dev on the App Store.

I don't know about that. Aspyr was a subsidiary under Saber Interactive when it was passed up the chain to them. As of this month, Embracer Group, the guys that own Saber Interactive, divested the company by selling it to Beacon Interactive while the Embracer group kept Aspyr so I'm unsure if the KOTOR remake IP is still held by Embracer Group or was it sold, along with Saber Interactive, to Beacon Interactive.
Letβs not forget that Aspyr completely scammed people by promising that the KOTOR 2 Switch port would include the Restored Content mod as free dlc, but it was cancelled long after the game released on Switch

Because you don't have to buy it if you don't want to, You can't really help getting mugged, assaulted or stabbed. In other words they are not NECISSARILY forcing you to buy they're game just heavily guiding you to do it. It's still scummy don't get me wrong, but you can stop it happening to you by not giving consent to them. So technically it can't be a crime because of a crime's nature ( Doing something someone doesn't want you to do to them on they're belonging ). You have a choice to just not buy the game, in the same way you can hang up the phone to a Nigerian prince.

False advertisement, selling something that is not what you say it is, is absolutely a crime. If you say "it's a remaster", and it's not actually a remaster, then that could be considered a crime. Selling things of "subpar" quality can also be a crime, if the "minimum quality standards" are encoded into law.

Consumers need to be smarter... also, Steam needs to increase the refund for certain games because 2 is fine of some games and in other's, its an hour of cutsceens, un skipable intros, characters creators and setting set up... don't tell me that a flight sim takes the same time to see if it's valid compared to a platformer...

Not on the lead up to release, not when the game hit the market, and not when the people started playing it for themselves.

This is a good case of what proper and improper management does to a project. Tomb raider collection released only a month ago, same company but they put in management that actually cared about the product (the main head being a huge TR fan and modder for years). The entire collection is 6gb, has a ton of new features/options, totally reworked graphics and many many more things to uncover (like the ability to switch to classic graphics on the fly). That collection was LESS money than this one is, and like I mentioned is less gb than the original 1+2 battlefronts were combined...
Oh and dont know if I missed it or not in the video but they also removed 4 player splitscreen, AND multiple single player cutscenes from the game. There's a few other things as well but these are the big ones... you get LESS content and a worse product than just using xbox backwards compatibility or buying the original games on steam (for cheaper mind you)!!! ...CRAZY....
They also slashed 3 and 4 player split screen mode.
Imagine buying that on console and having your friends from back then over... And then find out you cant
Thatβs actually huge - Iβve been following the story of this wretched game for a while, and even through it all, thereβs a part of me that thought βbut wouldnβt it be a fun party game for the Switch? No. No it would not.
Thankfully I am still fortunate enough to have a working copy of BF2 on the OG Xbox (for now), and a 360 that can run it. But BF1 is not forward-compatible w/360, I donβt think, so 4-player local for that game is lost to me.

The original BF1 was on the xbox, and the 360 could play xbox games so it could pay it. There was never, however, a BF1 release on the 360. In no small part because you could just play the xbox version on it, and we weren't in the era where they'd do it anyway just for $$$.
Speaking of new Battlefront 2, man, that game got done so dirty in the end. The devs were passionate and really cared. You could tell they genuinely appreciated the community and players who stuck with them through the awful EA meddling launch issues. They very clearly had at least 2-3 more content drops planned
Then as soon as it was apparent that they'd regained community trust EA says "good enough" and pulls the plug on them

I loved BF1 and played the shit outa it on my 360, was horrified to see what they did to BF2 with the P2W cards. Once I learned that was gone i got the game and played it a fair bit, but its so abandoned that I cant play galactic assault because every lobby has a cheater in it.

Persona 3 to Persona 3 Reload is what remaster standards should be held to. The audio remastering, the UI overhaul, the reworked combat system; they even added more content for the night time activities, extra content.

as in it tricked everyone into thinking it was a remake but then in the last third it turned out that it was actually a metanarrative about the nature of remakes and now it has become this fascinating experiment where they managed to make people hyped for a remake due to them not knowing what will happen next despite the fact it's a remake
From what I remember from the beginning of that games marketing, they made it clear they were making changes. They weren't explicit on what kind of changes but they did say it wouldn't be 1:1

I had such high hopes for this with how well the Tomb Raider 1-3 remaster turned out. I guess Crystal Dynamic did most of the heavy lifting there and not Aspyr. π
Rereleases of games are on a spectrum, with Remakes on one side and Ports on the other, with Remasters in the middle. Companies tend to call their products something that are not just to sell it more, especially ports that have Remastered in the title.

My friend is a big Star Wars fan, but I donβt even think he could comprehend my anger after playing this. I was looking forward to it because I played Battlefront 2 on the original Xbox, but I never got to play online on it. They took a pair of completely functional games, and literally ruined them. As a Warhammer fan, I think weβve gotten a taste of the first dark age of technology. Multiplayer didnβt work opening night, and the online was just abhorrent. And just basic things were changed for no reason. Why did the BF1 map loading and BF2 objective sounds need to change?! There was literally nothing more to do than increase resolution and add multiplayer, and they couldnβt get that right with two already built games. This game is the first Iβve ever returned digitally. Just go buy the originals. Just pathetic.

Well that section about the difference between various remakes and remasters is really helpful for the times that my friends and I have discussions about things like the Dead Space remake. I think that one would be between the full on remake and the faithful remake since it adds new story elements and background lore, side quests and stuff

Old bf isnβt shit; classic collection had lot of bugs and the online was fucked. Old bf definitely have some shit in them like the gunplay and lack of customization but so does the ea bf with its hero spam, bullet sponges, and removal of vehicle features.
You know Bricky, hearing you talk about games that are kept alive by their dedicated fans reminded me of a game call World in Conflict.
It was the strategy game of my childhood and even when Ubisoft pulled support the fans made their own multiplayer system to keep it alive. A sequel will never come but it would be glorious to see it become a remastered product. (a good one obviously, not this crud)

Itβs 2024 weβre not having this argument about remake or remaster. A remake is a new engine and visuals with updated mechanics. A remaster is just enhanced visuals and maybe a rebalance of mechanics

i would like to add to the remake tier list, between faithful remake and full remake; the rose-tinted remake. it takes the original game, updates everything to the modern standards, fixes a bunch of the bugs, adds quality of life features from later titles, and then adds a bunch of bonus content on the side.
the pokemon series made quite a few of these, in generations 3, 4, and 6, and the crash bandicoot series did this with crash team racing: nitro fueled (though the latter also has excessive grinding/microtransactions for some of it).
Just use the Xbox DLC content for PC mod and Harrisonfog's HD remaster mod for the original Battlefront 2 game. These 2 mods alone is better than this game.
you also need the remaster mod to fix the aspect ratio and ui and playable multiplayer servers with 5 people that are too laggy to move straight
Aight, this is gonna sound like a reach but my theory is that they saw the popularity of Helldivers 2, a game with sci-fi army men blasting away at hordes of enemies on medium to large maps, and rushed their remaster of the game about hordes of sci-fi army men blasting at other hordes of sci-fi army men (or robots, etc) on medium to large maps
Im pretty sure some of the "extra console characters" were actually modded into the original and Aspyr used those modded models and animations in the collection without even telling the people that made the mods instead of using the original console content

For each new video you release that isn't about *Gunfire* I will give out an unexagerrated build which you can make within the game. I sure hope that sounds good to you cause I am gonna do it even if you don't want me to :D
You can play as a Thunder Lion that can launch bricks at 70 mph which has enough force to send a god of gluttony into the shadow realm. The way to do this is to take the skill called *"Magical Supply"* so you can keep using your Charged Shots. After that focus on skills like *"Shadow Knight, Storm Blast & Eye of the Storm"* as these will increase your base shot damage. Mix taht with scrolls like *"Hawkeye Sight, Glazed Sight and Long Shot"* which all increase your Crit X _(Crit X increase the damage you deal with a Crit Hit)_ and soon enough you can one shot anything and everything!

Not only can you get the OG games for $20, you can buy keys from a third party site for a fraction of that cost. I paid $4 dollars total for BF 1 and 2 a couple years ago and modded them for free.

I was so confused when I first heard about everyone saying they were gonna remaster the classic battlefronts, because from what was shown in the clips on their steam page, it all looked the same as before.
I wish elite squadron was able to realize its true potential into becoming Battlefront 3. RIP Pandemic, also I really wanted lotr conquest 2 to happened.

There is one good thing about this - me and a couple of friends spent a convivial time playing the original Battlefront 2 without the remaster, despite it crashing more often than Blind Pew behind the wheel of a Reliant Robin and me needing the Hubble Telescope to read a damn word in-game.
You can actually see a glimmer, a glint, on pre Battlefront Collection Bricky's eye with how much hope and happiness he has for the game.

I kind of feel the same way about Darksoul 1 Remastered. Slightly better graphic, a new online play that brought back hackers, and most of the bugs were fixed by just removing the features that were bugged instead of actually fixing them. It is almost a down grade for 50 bucks.
