Yooo, this is the content we need. I loved hearing from Tommy and Frank, getting the inside info on how the song was produced. I could listen to a whole hour of this. One thing I wish you could have asked was, what are the differences between producing music for western pop and kpop, if any. That's something I've always wanted to know, as someone who's listened to kpop for a little while now, and starting to understand how the industry over there works from a "fan" perspective. Maybe you can ask them off camera sometime, and fill us in on a future podcast, man. But yeah, this was so informative. Also, holy shit you're one step closer to meeting Blackpink. Damn. lol
@@human7491 oh, I already know the differences between the music. :) I was talking more about the differences in the creative processes behind-the-scenes, if there are any. You know, like the approach to arrangements and such. I've always wondered if any western producers who normally only produce for their audience notice any differences working with international creatives and labels.

The interesting thing these producers talked about is how they've worked within building more traditional arrangements for those songs. The big difference with Ice Cream is that Tommy and Frank didn't use those traditional structures. Ice Cream almost goes against a lot of those structures, esp. for a Blackpink song: doesn't have "the drop", doesn't traditional hook (blends almost seamlessly with the verses), and the subject matter is almost too "risque" for a korean audience, or a BP song in general. I'd love to hear a more in-depth perspective on their experiences making and collaborating on Ice Cream, in the same vein as those behind-the-scenes videos on Euphoria and Bad Boy.
Anyway, just me rambling. :) But thank you so much for providing those links! Appreciate it!

We are sometimes really hard on producers when they do so much. "I look for something that doesn't sound like anything" that's what Ice Cream is for me like off the bat its a pink concept I understood that part but it was a hard left going from HYLT which I was not expecting at all and they made it work. Blackpink pink concepts still have girl crush elements to them but IC is something totally new to me as a follower of BP music since debut. I like that the pinks are working with new producers, Teddy is amazing but seeing the girls branch out is even better and Tommy and Mr Franks did an incredible job on this one. Give me Tommy x Blackpink any day!
