Yeah - I agree that Big Bang defined the new standard of kpop, being that I remember how male groups used to be my concept of a kpop sound is more of what groups used to do and the bubble gum girl groups who are out now.
believe me, in 2012 it wasn't the traditional kpop sound. BIGBANG made it as the trend, that's why it became the traditional Kpop sound after that.

BIG BANG's stuff is LEGENDARY. I remember being in the middle of 2012, age 13 or 14 being mind blown by Big Bang. I was used to groups like SHINee, B2ST, SUJU... they really paved the way for big names like EXO, BTS, back when BAP were really big. Them and BLOCK B. I honestly don't think we would see the kind of sounds we hear from them without BIGBANG and BLOCK B.
Big Bang is so influential but so underrated by these youngins that it's damn near disrespectful. They started so many trends- they were the first to employ hip hop as a mainstay in their music, one of the first to successfully employ electronic music in their songs, etc. Glad someone else noticed.

There is a reason why they’re called the Kings of Kpop. Big Bang basically set the blueprint that a lot of these other Kpop groups followed. BTS, GOT7, Monsta X, iKON, Block B, etc., all took a page out of their playbook. And yes, TOP has this affect on everyone.
But their not kings bts are kings but however Bigbang are FUCKIN GODS and will always be bts can never be better

Um Fantastic Baby is THAT song you listen to daily if you first heard it back in 2012. You didn't get into kpop until recently so it makes sense that you don't get the impact of this song on the WHOLE damn industry/culture/hallyu wave. This song is the epitome of Bigbang PAVING the road that now big names like EXO and BTS been through and allow them to expand the hallyu wave. I enjoy that you're a TOP bias like me. Lol.

so this is the hiding meaning in this song/MV
1) THE OWL:
The owl is said to represent scarring,darkness or even omen of devil. At the beginning of the MV the Owl seems to fly Away, which shows that the darkness or scarring is now gone!
2) Gdragon sitting on his throne:
When Jiyong sings " COME STICK TOGETHER, EVERYONE GATHER AROUND" he is calling out to the other members who are busy with their solo activities to come together.
3) The "STOP MUSIC " and black masked people:
Now these two represent the anti-fans or the general public who want bigbang to stop making music and the VIPs aka fan to stop supporting them or listen to their music.
4) Gdragon's eye makeup:
The smeared eye makeup can be interpreted as it being smudged or ruined by his tears. The bruising that Is underneath the smeared make-up shows that there had been much pain involved following the tears.
Now that's where we the VIPs show the world that they can't separate us from them and that we will always be their strength. Here's how!
5) White masked people:
Yes, that' us!
The STOP MUSIC signs and that skull one (both have the Same meaning) burn up showing that it's time for the music of the legends to be played again
6) The coverage of the face:
This means a "poker face"they do not want to show the public their inner feelings as of yet. They are fearful but they do not want to let the world see their weekness.
7) The fight and Jiyong:
Soon we see the black and white masked people fighting which actually means the VIPs doing their best to protect their kings from the poisonous antis.
Gdragon sits back while watching these fans and anti fans fighting with each other which means he has always been aware of the fan wars , how antis try to ruin their image and how VIPs fight back on their behalf. He has also seen all those negative comments and article About him. He was just playing the role of a fool all along.
8) Gdragon's body and him claiming the throne:
If you look closely, Jiyong's upper body has been bandaged which shows that he has received a tremendous amount of pain.
Then he stands up. Meaning he hasn't forgotten his real intentions (of doing his best and not giving up) and will continue to strive to be the best without being disturbed or brought down by anyone
9) Choi Seung Hyun:
We see top inside the canvas of a piece of art which shows all the dramas and movies he has been working on.
Then we see him outside the canvas. Showing us that he has given up on all promotions,movies acting just to be with bigbang.
10) Dong Young Bae:
Next we see taeyang meditating with the white masked people showing that he has the same thoughts as us. He and the rest of bigbang knows what we want and they will comeback soon
11)Kang Dae Sung:
Next is daesung all chained up which shows that he is still afraid to face the public and he doubts himself. he is un confident of his new comeback
12) VIPs victory:
The barrier between the White and black masked people falls over the black masked people .showing that the VIPs won the war. And they succeeded in protecting their kings
13) Lee.Seung Hyun:
The scratch marks on his body Show the pain he has felt. Ever since his solo promotions riri panda doesn't know which path to take now!
14) Gdragon staring at the ground:
Gdragon staring at the ground shows he Is unable to make eye contact with public because just like seung hyun he is afraid that he had failed the public more specifically the the VIPs..Pabo!
15) Daesung an the CARS:
The cars and the smoke coming out of them shows the terrible accident he had gone through in the past year. However when he falls the fans catch him..which means that VIPs helped him get back to the stage and smile once again.
Now we see only the white masked people aka the fans dancing with the MEMEBRS. It's finally over. They get to have fun again with the people they love
16) The kings and their Thrones:
Lastly,we see them kings sitting on their thrones. They will again rule the world this time with their music. The place is a bit dark and gloomy which shows that they are aware that all these incidents have done a bit harm to them but they also know that they have to work hard agian to be those kings the public admired.

Idk but most bands nowadays seem to me like they’re just trying to recreate their success. Its rare to find bands breaking the mold and doing something different (tbh the only ones I can think of are winner and kard). I’m tired of seeing copies cuz they can never compare to the original...

When this came out in 2012 everybody was shook-ed and stuff because Big Bang literally changed the kpop game 360 degree with this bruh trust me Kpop wasn’t even like this before Big Bang appear. *Taeyang* . He was frozen beacause of the hiatus same with the monks. The people felt that it they weren't producing anything.

*Seungri* . Is surrounded by girls because of his sex scandal with a girl who went to the media and accuse seungri of sexual shts, wasn't true tho. Lyin' ho. And ofcourse he was always photograph with many women.
