All of these songs are basically expressing all the pain and emotions, she was holding onto when she was under YG’s label, and when he blocked her from releasing music; for several years. All of the dates are when they were written/ finished, whilst she was under YG. Now She’s finally free, and is able to release her music.❤️❤️❤️

Everyone in Done were actually her friends and staff who supported her through the last 4 years, she had all the 2NE1 members in the video, BigBang's Taeyang was also in the video. Also, all the pictures in Rewind were basically her time with 2NE1 and after. So not just the last year. I'm just happy you reacted to her though! She deserves all the recognition.

The reason why the songs all seem about the past, is because CL described this project as like a diary of the last several years. They show all the pain and emotions she’s had to hold onto whilst YG was blocking her!
All the dates are when the songs where written/finished, meaning they were all done whilst still in YG, but she wasn’t allowed to release them :(

Also the cherry in the thnx video is CL (Cherry= her real name, Chaerin). Notice how the cherry was put on top of the bowl in the beginning, but never ended up being picked by the person. The person picked every other fruit but the cherry. It’s supposed to symbolize how CL (the cherry) was on top of her career ready to put herself out there, but her company kept picking other artists over her to promote and forgot about her to the point where everyone got to promote but her. Basically her company kept her in the dungeon while her colleagues got to do what she wished for; also why the cherry cried at last and was buried, however the butterfly came out the ground which I’m guessing signifies a new beginning for her to blossom again and start over.

Bris, for real, you seem to appreciate CL music. You really should pay attention to 2NE1 music and especially LIVES cause these four girlz got so much powerful charisma on stage.
Like 2011 MAMA, 2015 MAMA, collab between CL&Lee Hyori, CL&Diplo at SIA, the collab between CL Bewhy GD Okasian, any THE LEADERS live with GD and there are way more. I also think about the live with come back home where there were tree and CL being savage in her rap.

So glad you finally got to hear and see these!! A little context to what you watched... for three years her old label YG ghosted gets so they could promote Blackpink and newer groups. (Please note I’m not shading BP, but YG) Even though groups like 2NE1 and Big Bang made their label what it was, they didn’t stand by any of their original artists in their times of need (Bommie and TOP were accused unfairly of drug scandals & CL was sent to live in the US to expand their label but they blocked her every effort.) she wrote around 200 songs in that time. She even recorded full videos (look up CL -All In) and YG blocked her every step of the way. Wouldn’t even return her calls. She even produced her own Olympic Opening ceremony performance without his help to prove herself, still ghosted. In ten years on that label they only gave her 2 singles and allowed a premature disbandment of her group... so in November 2019 she officially quit that label. Now this month she has released Six songs and videos composed straight from the pages of her journal. Each song title includes a date that corresponds.
The video for Done is her friends that got her through this time. You should recognize a few... all the members of 2NE1, Taeyang from Big Bang, Taboo from Black Eyed Peas and a few others kpop artists, etc. The video for rewind was straight from her photo album.
In THNX, the 🍒 is CL. It’s a play on her name, Chaerin. If you look through her Instagram over the last year or more, you’ll see it throughout. You mentioned you saw a lot from the past in these songs... true. It was her journal. But I’m the end when the 🍒 is buried, it is reborn as a butterfly.
Our girl is back and ready to fly.

I just want to inform you that this EP she released isn’t her official comeback, she released “IN THE NAME OF LOVE” to thank the fans who waited for her after a long time and share her journey to the fans. She’s the songwriter , the executive producer, co-director and co-editor of her videos. CL is a clever woman those MVs aren’t just MVs, they have meanings.

“One and only” was about the idea of YG making “future 2NE1” and she is just telling them that there is nobody like and and nobody can take her place (which is true she is a queen)
“I quit” was about her kinda roasting YG and telling them who they are to judge her and they don’t own her like they can’t control her and her telling them to just stop coz she quit she’s not a person who would quit but she quit because of YG’s shit
“Thanks” is about her recalling all the bad and good memories and leaving everyone because of YG( if I’m right)
