Gacy: *confesses 33 murders*
Also Gacy: "I'm innocent"
He did say he had an alter ego so “technically” he is innocent Jack Hanely did it
Well, the police thought that Gacy was suicidal so by pleading guilty, Gacy couldve gotten his 'wish' of dying.
I just watched an interview with Katherine Ramsland, a professor of forensic psychology who corresponded with Dennis Rader (BTK) for several years, and she talked about how Rader described his different personas as the sides of a cube.
One side was the husband and father, maybe another work/professional side, and still another was the stalking and murdering side.
So if you asked him if he was guilty on a day when he was in dad/father mode, he would say no. If you asked when he was in serial killer mode, he would freely admit to it.
Ramsland also points out that everyday a sociopathic serial killer says could be a lie, so it's hard to know to what extent Rader or other killers like Gacy really have cognitive dissonance about crimes they have compartmentalized and to what extent they're just trying to sell the idea of having multiple personalities and being crazy.

The 70s seemed like a booming era for serial killers.
White men mad that they weren't able to live up to the glory of the Greatest Generation that came before them as more and more marginalized groups began to become competition or consider them irrelevant with the rise of the cultural revolution and various civil rights movements

I don’t care what everyone is saying, the narrator sounds great and fits the video perfectly. The voice needs to be neutral and peaceful. Other voices just wouldn’t fit

I would at least want Shane and Ryan to go over Serial Killers from childhood to death because I like their dynamic.

Admits to killing
Last words are how he’s innocent
That’s the criminal justice system for you. Many admit to crimes they didn’t commit just to stop police interrogations (not saying he was innocent)
He also had an alter ego, his last words prolly weren't his, and also the criminal justice system isn't to blame for people lying on death row. And besides they were literally under his house and it was also in like the 1900's you could definitely get away with murder
Maybe he doesn’t even view the killings as ‘wrong’ and therefore he believed he was innocent. That’s even more chilling.
But was the lethal injection FDA approved

One of my high school friends was one of his victims.... Edited: since they mentioned him by name.. my dear high school friend was John Szyc. We lost touch after he graduated (he was two years older than me), but I heard that he had left the area and no one had heard from him. the story didn't make total sense to me because he had left behind a few things that he wouldn't have traveled without. Then when I was at a New Year's Eve party (Gacy was already in custody they were finding bodies), I overheard a news broadcast that said that John's school ring was found in Gacy's house. John's ring was a beautiful Sapphire School ring. He loved that ring and would never part with it. Upon hearing that news, though John was not identified yet, I knew he was one of the victims. Here I had thought, hoped and prayed that John just took off to a different part of the country and was living a happy life. And I remember being shocked sick upon hearing the news.

Typical policemen in the 70s. Thats why most of them get away with it. Jeffrey dahmer did too alot of times.
Like with the zodiac killer they had him and didn't hear right and were looking for a African american. I don't understand why American people don't want to accept that they go some crazy as people
and typical
its frighteningly common
Nope! That’s not the case:) Officers were given small pieces of evidence at the time, but never had enough to do a full investigation or obtain a warrant until there had been multiple big pieces of evidence, and then the police immediately began an investigation, and he was later found guilty and all that. :)
The fact that multiple people complained shows that people’s deaths are authorities faults too

can we normalize how scary life can be for men and boys too? Its just not as spoken of but this is a great example
Exactly right. Being a victim has no gender, it can happen to anyone. I was sexually molested at age 7. My dad bashed the guy pretty bad later because he lived next door and was actually friends with my parents. I was jumped in an ally by 3 guys when I worked security, but thankfully they were useless and couldn't fight at all. Then in 2004 I was abducted during an armed robbery and held hostage in a car travelling all through western Sydney. Women are more likely to be victims of sexual violence, but it still happens to men. But I will say one thing, and that is that men are more likely to be offenders. And I think that comes down to capability. There are plenty of female offenders, but nowhere near as many as men. That's not to downplay the role of cruel women though.
Omg. This was only seven minutes yet it felt like an hour's worth of narration. Very chilling. Buzzfeed ya'll are doing some great work!

When Gacy said clowns can get away with murder, I think his statement is actually very telling and less literal than just a reference to his moonlighting as Pogo the clown, I think he was saying that when you’re a “clown” as in a well-liked, funny person who likes to goof around then no one takes you seriously or even thinks of the possibility that you could be threat, especially as people will laugh things off if they thinking you’re joking, meaning you could get away with a lot of things.
