My cats knew before I did. They became extremely cuddly more than I was used to of them.
It could be from a change of scent. Pregnant women emit a different scent and I recently heard from Andrew Huberman that this scent is so strong it causes the father to actually put on mass because the body feels it needs strength more. I assume this same scent is picked up by these cats and other domesticated animals realising their owners are in need of support

@@Euphytos I am not sure if itโs ONLY fat I donโt really think it is possible for somebody to gain just fat in any circumstance. It could be the food that theyโre eating is in general filled with fats and causes gain of unhealthy fat or the body considers fat a sort of energy reserve to be used for days when you have low sleep from handling home and work life. Lifestyle factors also come into play you and me we need to go hit the weights hit the bag get in our muscle stimulus but guys couple centuries ago chopped whole trees down with just an axe and then made wood out of those logs as part of their work whereas we have to just sit on a chair and study and work on a notebook or computer

Many years ago my wife had a brain bleed that almost did her in and in the meantime my youngest daughter was pregnant and had taken a LOA so she moved in to help my wife recover.
We had a beautiful female tuxedo cat that would go to my wife's room to be with her and then get up to find our daughter and check on her and then start the routine over again.
Her concern was so touching and when the baby was born, my daughter still helped with her mom but brought the baby with her and the cat added checking on the baby as part of her routine.
We called her "Nurse Katie", one of the sweetest cats ever.

When my Sister was pregnant, her cat could hear when the baby moved. Every time the baby girl moved or kicked, the cat would snuggle up to her tummy and purr. When she started having contractions, he would not be quiet, he meowed and scream every time she would contract, he was like her Midwife/Husband coaching her along. The most emotional thing he did was put his paws on her side and started massaging her while waiting for the ambulance, it made everyone that was aware of his concerns tear up. He did not sleep or eat until she came home from the hospital with my Niece. He loved the baby and made his little motor noises while he sniffed her hair or snuggled with her. When she cried he would be right there wondering what to do for her. He was right every time the baby was touched as if saying " What are you doing with my child". He would alert them when she woke, or when she made baby noises, he would meow right so loudly. He was my Nieces best friend, companion, Fur-brother for the next 14 years of his life. LOve and miss ya Bud!

Cats are more intelligent than we give them credit for. Towards the end of my first pregnancy, my cat alerted me by continuing to paw at my belly, that my unborn baby was in distress. I went to the doctor the same day and my baby girl arrived that night by emergency C-section due to the cord having been wrapped tightly around her neck. My cat saved her life. As far as I am concerned, she is an angel and she will forever be loved and cherished โค๏ธ

Cats aren't always right. Mine kept pawing at my balls and so I went to the doc and nothing was wrong. Now I mostly just blow off Mr. Poodleskate's diagnoses.
