Or, they could have cut it down with the sole purpose of making it into a tub, using its wood to fuel their great nightly bonfires as they dance around it screaming into the night as they wrap themselves in the skin of the animals they killed as they left the meat rotting in the creek the provides water for the downstream village. I agree with you though, it’s not right for us the judge them either way until you know the whole story. Still pretty sick idea for a tub though.👍

To those complaining about a dead tree that now has a permanent home as a beautiful tub, please use your energy to change things for the living, wasted trees being cut by the mile every day for your palm oil and avocados. There are politicians that you can call, petitions you can sign but most importantly habits that you can change. Don't buy paper products made from unrecycled wood, urge people to plant trees on their own properties, use products made from bamboo and hemp, urge others to do the same. Also part of keeping forests healthy is by cutting damaged, dead or sick trees that pose danger to the surrounding trees. Trees can look perfectly healthy to the untrained eye but look closer and you will see tops of them getting brittle and brown, roots rotting or disease from pests and fungi that is hidden within. Also plenty of healthy trees get knocked over by weather systems or natural disasters. Yes it's sad when they have to be cut down but often it's necessary to do it before it falls and damages other trees or homes and buildings. Besides many people that work with trees do it because they love them and so they practice healthy forestry, planting 2 to 5x the trees they cut down and choosing those they do cut by health, age and risks they pose. They aren't the same as those clear cutting entire ecosystems for your toilet paper and to make room for more kale, soybeans and quinoa.

I was thinking about that too. I wonder if making something out of pine resin, or maybe just some kind of seed oil. It seems like a shame to use some kind of petrochemical or plastic. And surely it wouldn't stand up to cycles of being saturated with moisture, drying, freezing, thawing, and baking in the sun without some kind of sealing or treatment. You also don't want something nasty that is going to make a poisonous soup every time you use it.

I was in tears when, a 400 yr old Oak tree fell over at the base 😢 On this property there were 25 Oaks of the 1k Oak trees. The trees were numbered this was #6, they were protected, landscapers given landscaping rules. In this city the property owners have to pay to replace every Oak tree, one for one. With the amount of trees that have been destroyed by diseases, fire and other natural desasters, nice that you were able to make something beautiful.

@i66yi66zy Did you see the short where he counts up the tree rings? I actually work with sitka spruce quite a bit because I’m a luthier, and sitka spruce is the most common material used for acoustic guitar tops. I can definitely see the resemblance to sitka but in my admittedly limited experience, the size of the rings in this tree are way larger than what I’ve come to expect from sitka. Maybe it’s just because it’s a young tree or something because there’s definitely a strong resemblance in a lot of other ways. But those rings do seem way larger than typical sitka rings.

Look, I'm not one of the people that have a problem with this(for starters idk if they cut that tree themselves or if it had to be cut) but this argument is so bad it's basically self defeating. Hopefully 10 years from now I am living in Northern Michigan 😂 The snow can get bad. But 40 years ago snow was bad everywhere. My state use to get 15 foot snow drifts. Now we are lucky to get 1.5 inches of snow.
