My father was an alcoholic, I feel like she's singing about my life. All of albums are great but this one I feel is going to be a game changer. Definitely put her back on top of the awards circuit.

You know what are the most touching things out from this song? They are purity of melody just from piano and violin, authenticity from Carrie's voice, and a such heartrendingly storytelling expression. What a breathtakingly heartfelt and clever songwriting, but such an agonizing narration of story which we could almost relate to. Wish everyone give Carrie credit for this outstanding masterpiece!

I sobbed this whole song. my husband is 1 year an half sober. last time he drank he disappeared in a hotel room for 3 days. so drunk didnt know where he was. this song every word is exactly how it feels it's like shes singing threw my soul.

You're exactly right. When she sang "Cry Pretty on AGT, I cried myself into a jerk. She's that good. I have a daughter that an addict and she is in prison for so many different times. Carries songs make a statement and speaks in volumes. She's very good. I have most of her CDs.

I still have chills when I hear her in my head when she first sang Cry Pretty on the CMA's she knocked it out of the park that night !! My 20 year marriage ended also because of crack addiction and alcohol and the second we lost 2 children in a car accident. My ex is paralyzed as of a few months ago because of the wreck less behaviors. I went to Gatlinburg to forgive my ex recently for what he did to me and our 4 kids but the trauma still stays . I can totally relate.
Put the cross between you and your ex .. pray God sends someone to minister to Him . It’s not your place anymore. Told to me by my prayer warriors because after my trip I had this revaluation I’d go heal him ... um yea .. she said NOOOOOO .... soul ties , trauma bonds , generational curses are broken. We need to keep them that way . Yea it hurt .. but it keeps me safe .

My mother, father, and sister are all drug addicts. My dad is dead. My mom is currently in jail. I worry so much that I'll get the call that they're dead too. It's CONSTANT worry. I think my heart shattered into about a million pieces hearing this song. Not just the message and the lyrics, but the sheer power, beauty, and raw emotion of her voice against a pretty understated arrangement. It's just Carrie showcasing her voice, and it damn near broke me.

She’s singing about my brother right now. He’s 30 and the biggest, blindest alcoholic I’ll ever know. He’s got pancreatitis right now, go figure why. He drives cross country. Drinks on the road but little …. Comes home and seems to pound it like there’s no tomorrow. Ends up in rehab almost every time he comes home every few months, or so it seems.
