This means that every once in a while you just need to take a break and not overwork yourself. It's not promoting smoking and drinking.

People who think it's promoting smoking are missing the point! The whole concept of the song is sometimes we all need a bit of time out, to let loose and have fun - just doing something we don't normally do, that takes our mind off the hardships of everyday life :) Im ALL for that.

One minor little factoid that was never mentioned here...they actually filmed a couple of additional scenes for this music video, but they never made the final cut. Hence the reasoning why we all saw Carrie in a red dress in this clip. Just thought I'd throw that out there for those that didn't know!
+Josh McDonald All of Carrie's fans know that when she is shooting a video for a single, not all of that footage actually into the video. I saw that for her very first video, "Jesus Take The Wheel", she was singing it on a bed. But, when the video came out that scene was never seen. Carrie does that all the time for her videos. She does extra scenes in case, they needed them.

If she'd called it Coffee Break some people who have to bitch about everything would still complain because they hate coffee taking a break from stress was often called a Smoke Break in the past and still is occasionally for smokers to go outside to smoke.While others gather around the water cooler to gossip.Using the term was just a colloquial way of saying taking a break.If your offended take it elsewhere most people are smart enough to not take it literally.Its also #1 on Billboards Digital Downloads.

It's so annoying that you can't even go on the internet anymore without seeing hundreds of thousands of people offended over the smallest things. Some people clearly love to complain. Look up the term "Smoke Break"- educate yourself. It's not a bad thing to not know something, but it is bad if you decide to make your own assumptions rather than looking deeper into the meaning. A lot of songs are just metaphors, so if a musician sings about drugs or alcohol, they may not necessarily be promoting or even talking about drugs or alcohol.

Mother Russia She is not promoting smoking. "Smoke Break" is basically just another way of saying that we all need time to unwind when things get rough. It's not smoking in a literal sense. And maybe that is your opinion but I happen to think this song is one of her best singles. It has a great deeper meaning and a catchy beat, everything a great country song should have.
