Tiny rant, but I don't understand why everyone saying this song is boring and mediocre? This song deserves more recognition than it gets I think, the message here is important, and Carrie delivers it like a Queen! I also don't understand what people are trying to say when they say "well that's what marriage is!" I understand that people get in fights once in a while, but if you're fighting with the person you love so much that you're traumatizing your child, that seems like it'd be a problem. That's just my thoughts, I really like this song a lot! It hits home exactly where it hurts, and I think this song gets what it's trying to say as well. Another amazing job by the modern queen of Country (at least, I think so.)

Been waiting 10 years for my parents to get a divorce yet they are waiting for my brother and I to turn 18.. Dumbest decision they’ve ever made for their children’s mental health.
I found my forever family at 10 days old, but until I was 8 my bio parents were still together. Bio dad was abusive, and when Mommy(bio mom) would visit and watch me, I would hear them fighting. When he dropped her off I'd hear the slaps and hits. I'd see the bruises. When it was just her and I and he would call I would hear, and it was really scary. I don't even know what he looks like. the divorce papers were filed with a restraining order.
I've been this little girl and this song hits emotions I thought I buried long ago. Until this day conflict between anyone I'm around makes me shut down and wanna run and hide safe in a corner. Carrie is amazing and so is this song.

This song means so much to me... My dad has PTSD from military and my parents would fight all the time. I swear if we didn't have songs like this idk if some of us would have made it through childhood. But yet all these songs and no one ever notices. :(
I noticed, and still do. You are strong and steadfast to be able to love both your parents despite the hardships, and the best thing you can do for your family is to be there for them when they need you most. My husband has PTSD from childhood trauma and when he has an attack, I hold him tight and let him know the scary times are over, I'm here, and he is safe. If you can learn to be your father's rock, he will start to heal, and maybe then things will get better. Don't pretend to understand, just love him. It will make all the difference in the world. Be strong my sister, and blessed be.❤

God this is so relatable.
To get away from it, we turn to music, books, writings, the woods, etc. Yet, it never works. We turn to God, find some sense of peace and relief, but the pain's still there.
I have been bullied since kindergarten. Words have been knives that have sharpened over the years. The same bullies have made new friends to help torture me. And as they learn a more hurtful language, they have used their new weapon against me. My friend showed me this song and told me it was a song that had my favorite saying. I always say "I wish words were like little toy guns." so I sit everyday, in my corner desks, listening to this song, drawing pictures of toy guns, people sharpening knives with hurtful words on it, etc. I love this song so much :'''''')

Donut Panda, My life was the same way. I thought when I started school I could get away from the abuse. I was wrong. I got it worse there. I never fit in. I was left out of games, not asked to participate. I spent a lot of time alone or with the Teachers or my Mom and Grandmother. I had a hard time socializing with people my own age. It didn't stop either. Each time I went to another grade I either got ignored or picked on. I finally snapped in Junior High after bumping into someone accidently I started beating on the girl I bumped into. The thing is I don't remember beating on her until they pulled me off of her. In other words my mind was a total blank while I was beating on her. It scared me I could have hurt her bad. I wasn't used to fighting I always ran away from fights. There used to be a girl named "Sissy Gonzales" who would chase me home from the bus stop. I was picked on, called names or basically ignored.
I don't go to my High School Reunions. In fact I've never been to one.
Donut Panda, I am sorry you have to deal with this bullying and you had to deal with it since Kindergarten. There is a lot of support for victims of bullying out there. Please go to your guidance counselor and ask for help. You don't have to tell them who are bullying you if you don't want to. I don't know what anti bullying rules are in your school but many have protection from retaliation if someone gets disciplined for bullying. Find out what bullying rules your school has and you can talk to the local PD if it continues. But please don't believe you have to accept being bullied. You do not have to put up with it. As a high school administrator, i deal with this all of the time and in many cases, until the victim comes forward nothing changes and the bullies feel invincible. By taking action, you can help yourself and the bullies at the same time. They need to know right now that it is not okay to bully anyone. If you are unsure of where to look for your rights as a victim of bullying, please post your state and I will see what I can find out. My advice, stay strong. Ask yourself what will all of this mean to me in 10 years. In 10 years, you will have graduated and will be either working on your trade, going to college, in the military or working. None of this will matter because you are better, stronger and have many more positive attributes that you are not aware of. Just remember, you are so important to people who know you. They see the remarkable person you are and don't be afraid to tell your friends what you admire about them. I bet they will tell you what they admire about you. Good luck and don't let them win.

I remember being 10 years old, I'm 17 now. My parents were fighting, I told them both to go into their bedroom without the other knowing that the other was coming in, or was already in there. Once they were both there I shut the door and locked it from the outside. They both yelled at me to let them out but I yelled back "NO! Not until you work it out!". They did.
It was my worst fear when I was younger, not ghosts, or monsters under my bed, but my parents separating. It terrified me. They never fought that bad again, at least not around me. 30 years this month they will have been married. Love them both so, so much!

This songs makes me reflect on my abusive childhood, mom was a prostitute & I was abused by the men she slept with & abused sexually by my grandfather, went through the foster care system for 3 years, dad left my mom was I was 2 & my grandmother died when I was 2, No one even knew I existed when I was little because I never went outside to play till after 7 years of age, This song reminds me of my mom & grandfather fighting all the time, the song really helps me reflect on my childhood that was truly traumatic & heartbreaking! Thank you Carrie Underwood for this song in some small way I hope it helps me & others to heal their pain 💜

God bless you Carrie Underwood. I can relate to this song. I saw my parents fight sometimes but it was rare. In the end through it all, they loved each other. That is all that matters to me these days. They are High School sweet hearts. Graduated from the same school I graduated from called Pike County High School in Pike County, Georgia. They started hanging out in the tenth grade, had their first kiss at the end of eleventh grade, and married two years after high school. Nine years later they had me. Ten years later had my brother. They married on August 9th, 1985 and been married almost 33 years. The fighting wasn't nearly as bad as you guys parents fighting.
I have been blessed by my dad who loved my mom and I never hear them arguing because my dad chose to break the generational trauma. He had seen his own dad hit his mom and he never ever hit my mom nor did they argue. If they did it was away from us. God is good

skippygirl959 yes there are starving kids in Africa but that fact is there are kids in the U.S. that are also starving. It doesn't make the news because I guess it's not a popular topic but it's true. So we should do what can for the kids living in this country. We have all these resources it's sad that we actually have little kids going to bed with empty tummies...

Carrie Underwood uses her music to connect with the fans. I love how every one of her songs describes at least one type of person. I love how she sings about real world problems.
This song relates to my situation in so many ways. Music can heal a person thats for sure. Ive been phycially and verbally abused by my step grandfather who is not even blood related to me. I know this is about people fighting in a marriage but you can look at it in many ways. When I first heard it I started to cry honestly because of the memories but this song healed me and helped me through the troubles of those memories if that makes since. I love Carrie's music cuz it can heal people in many ways. Thank you honestly for making this song
