And people tease me for being scared of bridges... The thing collapsed like a cheap toy!!!
No airplanes... No trains.... No Bridges.... Stay away from cars that catch on fire.....
I have a horrible fear of bridges as well. This doesn't help it.
That’s the main draw back with the design of bridge
Gephyrophobia.
Under Biden’s watch. FJB for letting in illegal migrant ships.
Thank God this wasn't a week day during traffic!!! Praying for those affected 🙏🙏🙏
true this. silver lining
Didn’t this happen today?
@@kalebgann7110it did happen today this morning. And it is a weekday
@@disastermaster1413 it happened at 1:30 AM, I believe. I think the OP meant that thank goodness this horrific collapse didn't happen at 7:00 AM during rush hour.
If it had been in the daytime, this might not have occurred bc the visibility must be better. Thoughts and prayers are with those affected.
Those poor people on the bridge!😢🙏
Those poor trolls living under it
My condolences to all the victims on the bridge and on the ship.
I thought she was going to say "700", or maybe "75" but "7" people. I don't want to say it, but for a bridge that big, that number could've been a whole lot bigger. I feel terrible for anyone affected, but glad it wasn't any more than that
And given that the time was, I believe, 1:30 in the morning, it is highly unlikely that there were any children and/or infants...at least I fervently hope there weren't.
The Key Bridge is also part of the Baltimore beltway. Fortunately the surrounding area is industrial so traffic in that area is lighter than other parts of the beltway. At 1:30 AM most parts of the beltway could be pretty trafficked.
@@bobbyg15 the bridge was also a major route for trucks as It was a designated hazardous materials truck route. HAZMATs are prohibited in the Baltimore Harbor and Fort McHenry tunnels.
Actually the statement about the weight of the ship is incorrect. 155,000 tonnes is the ship's Gross Registered Tonnage, which is a measure of size. However the ship and its cargo will be quite heavy and could easily weight over 200,000 tonnes.
Thanks dude
Yep, a lot of sea-can containers on that ship
"Ship hit the bridge, sinking. The bridge is goooonnnee". Nothing gets by this guy.
Terrible, prayers for the remaining missing 7 folks.
Sending prayers for those on the bridge and their families! 😢🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😞
Just seems crazy to me how fast it went down 😮
I've taken that bridge so many times....scary
Glad you weren't on it when it went down.
How did you sneak away with a bridge?
this is bad.... imagine if this happened during rush hour and that bridge was backed up............😭
Me too. Biggest fear unlocked.

Oh poor souls🙏🏻
You can actually see the individual cars on the bridge as it collapses :(

Tomorrow is certainly not promised to anyone so sad
Ship lost power and went dark for a few crucial seconds before it hit the bridge. The black smoke was already present before impact.
Smoke BEFORE impact? Hmmm.
@CC-xn5xi lost power for a few seconds and came back on. Presumably, the engines did, too. Or at least try to fully reverse. Anchor was dropped and dragged.
She lost power AFTER hitting the pylon foundations. This is NOT an accident and shows exactly why tugs escort ships through high-risk areas.
They turned this ship a couple times to aim directly at those pillars. This is blatantly an intentional direct hit.
@@chrisbell62not an accident?? Ok terrorist group is responsible for this one genius?
Praying for all people affected especially those driving in that beautiful bridge.
IF there was any indication of a ship strike beforeand, then why wasn't the bridge locked down and traffic stopped in order to prevent any type of injury or loss of life?????
It took more time writing this comment just imagine the response time
Contrary to popular belief, shipping containers hitting bridges aren't planned events.
Cyber security alert was given they lost control of the ship... Why did they not drop anchor and throw it in reverse?
@@shawnagentry9459
It's not a car. It's not so easy.
Money, duh. This is America
It's a small miracle that they are only looking for 7 people right now. If this happened during the day we could of had hundreds of casualties.
That’s 7 workers they know about. They don’t know how many people in the cars that plummeted
That's gonna be expensive.
getting hit by a 130K tons displacement ship would take out any upright structure. Fortunately, this happened at 130 AM so there was almost no traffic. It will take more than a year to rebuild this bridge! Then the Baltimore port is blocked so what will happen to the port employees? Will they be laid off until the channel is cleared and the re-construction done? How will the northeast coast supplied? This is truly a mess!!
Ships are halted more than likely until the infrastructure has been cleared and casualties confirmed with the port being the source for imports and exports they'll move expeditiously to get things back running 30 days tops I'd say
Who cares if they get supplies they're mostly Democrats anyway so it's not a big deal!
@@moorelance23 How many heavy lift sea craft are in close proximity?
@@ronbelanger4113 not sure
So unbelievable
Jesus thats so scary looking. I feel so bad for the victims. But thank goodness it wasn't during the day with far more traffic. 😢
The concrete barrier encasing the base of each pylon was pathetically flimsy compared to the incredibly massive barriers used in more recent bridge designs. It should have been apparent that the bridge was inherently vulnerable in the case of a collision. Was there any plan to mitigate the risk?
That costs money so no.
(1) In Singapore, these heavy vessels are being tow into the port with it engine shut off and resume control only during parking. (2) Why would you have a cable suspended bridge next to a port that is full of heavy vessels? Any cable snap, the bridge will fall like domino. There is absolutely no room for human error. (3) With the deadweight like this kind of container vessel, once the steering is off, you cannot put it to a full stop even with all the brakes applied. Hope everyone is safe from this incident.
Prayers for those working on that bridge!
I cant imagine going in the drink during winter in the middle of work with safety boots, concrete, tool belt, and no light 😢
My prayers 🙏 for people
Prayers & healing to all involved🙏
Could someone onboard the cargo ship have access to the power and turned it off? And make the ship steer into the bridge? Is it possible this could be an act of terror?
Prayers to all the people on the bridge at the time😢.
Sure looked like a pretty good amount of vehicles went in.
Unbelievable
If officials were told there was a likely possibility that the bridge was going to be hit, why exactly was the bridge not locked down?
it was locked down. but cars were already there. Try using ur brain
Government Indifference, Incompetence & Ineptitude, as usual.
they lost power 1 minute before they hit the bridge. clearly not enough time to get anything done.
Response time, the crucial factor.
Federal help? Yes, with rebuilding the bridge fast. The State would take 15 years.
Bridge funds went to ukraine
weird that it says on another post that they lost power just before hitting the bridge. yet the power kept going off and on and the ship actually TURNED towards the bridge a few times before the collision. So I'm questioning exactly what happened.
The engine was on fire and with the power going in and out they lost steer control.
You and me both!
The initial hit didn't do the damage.. the ship then turned and caught the metal supports which it tore through.. the concrete base likely did its job, but I don't think they considered such a high forestructure when they designed this...
Yeah ok
There are two aspects: the bridge and the ship. The first question regarding the bridge is: what were the fenders like around the supports? They must be able to prevent a ship from striking the supports for the bridge. It appears that they were not sufficient.
So so scary!!!!!
Mothman.
Hope everyone is safe.
They're locked inside of their cars....
My prayers and love go out to all affected by this tragic event ,
The video footage is amazing
Why are you only showing a final few seconds of the collision, when you look back on the live stream the ship looks as if it loses power. Bad reporting
Yes. They also say the black plumes of smoke were from fire. That smoke was big ol diesels full throttle in reverse.
She reported that the ship lost power. Stop looking for reasons to be outraged.
@@philspd473 I’ve just watched a tuber who’s put better information about the incident then what being reported

@@philspd473 yes very good channel, facts not fiction like I’ve been reading. It’s disappointing that people jump the gun with there own fiction. Just like the incident at the Japanese airport.
THIS IS INSANE WTF😭 oh my god ive always been scared of bridges because of this
Why weren’t there constructions to prohibit this kind of accidents. A Pilar like this with this kind of traffic should have been protected as all the bridges are in the Netherlands.
Luckily it's not slam during busy times if not the casualties will many...
It's the Chesapeake Bay ... not a river. All of us here in Baltimore are heartbroken for the victims. 💔
It's basically is. It's called a Estuary. The mouth where the tide meets the river.
The Bay Bridge is different. This is ( was) spanning the Patapsco.
So sad. Jesus bless them. I remember the day in Minnesota bridge collapsed. Another sad day
Think of the amount of time you've spent on a bridge in your whole life.
Think of the number of bridges you've crossed which have subsequently collapsed for any reason.
Scary?
Nope.
Bridges are safe.
If it was known that there was a chance of a collision with a ship and the bridge , why wasn't the traffic stopped from going onto the bridge until the ship passed the bridge??
Just minutes of warning.
Clearly don't understand how reality works.
Why didn’t Jason Bourne save the bridge?!
This is one of my biggest fears while going over a bridge!🫣Prayers to all 😔🙏🏼
So sorry for nightmare cars on bridge. Should be a common sense rule when a boat or cargo ship anywhere near a bridge should be barely moving speed in case it loses power like happened here.
200,000 tons hitting at 5 mph will still knock pretty much anything over...
So who is going to be affected by this? Are there now several ships that can't get out?
Just think what goes by ship
Amazon prime delivery gonna be delayed for a couple of years 😮
Everyone local, for years.
No shipping for awhile until the bridge is removed from the channel, that’s going to be a feat in itself.
Prayers for all involved from victims to rescuers
I always hated bridges from day 1.
Yes I have a deadly fear of crossing bridges!
It's silly I know because it was after my Mom would read 3 BILLY GOATS GRUFF where 3 goat's are trying to cross over a bridge to eat the rich grass on the other side.
But a NASTY TROLL lives under the bridge and threatens the goats.
Anyway they do finally get to cross over.
But as a kid this started this terror about crossing them.
And all the War movies I've watched where TAKING out the Bridges was a major focus of the Army!
I was traveling with my Mom as a teenager and sure enough don't we get rear ended crossing a bridge in the mountains.
Thankfully Mom kept the car on the bridge but we did crash into the cars in front of us.
Big chain reaction.
Anyway after seeing this NIGHTMARE situation unfold on this bridge has definitely triggered my GUT fear for Bridges.
Oh and that iconic scene in STAND BY ME where the train comes as the boys are crossing the bridge and they are running for their lives to not get hit!
Oh that Gets me every time too!
My heart and prayers go out to anyone who was on that bridge lastnight.
God speed to the recovery and rescue workers who are looking for the folks who were thrown into this freezing waters below.
Stay strong folk's they ARE coming for you all!

Sending Love and Strength I'm watching and praying from 🇨🇦!
Well... "used to be" a harbor... wonder how any ship could get in or out of there with such an obstacle. Coming in could re-route to another port, but getting out?
There is only one way in and out of the port.
A modern design of bridge would've had a way better design & pier protection & both this and similar incidents are an indication of how a lot of USA infrastructure is way out of date!
No bridge in the world is designed to take direct hits from super tankers.
My prayers go out to everyone . Wow
Well folks, do you see how vulnerable we are? This ship went right for the critical load point of the bridge more like a designed collision than an accident.
Been searching to find any comment where someone else believes this is orchestrated and a part of a larger grand plan that has already been written. America is in trouble. Most are just too blind/distracted to see. Everything is connected. This, the Suez Canal a while back,China,Taiwan, Russia,Ukraine, South Korea, Syria, ISRAEL, the illegal alien takeover. Nothing is separate. It's all part of the plan (prophecy).
My condolences and prayers to the people on the bridge impacted by this devastating accident 🙏🏻💔 I pray everyone survives, but it unfortunately isn’t looking good. They did rescue multiple people, but are still searching. Time is of the essence and you can’t survive for multiple hours in that water temperature.
Very sad 😢
They may have to implement a car ferry system until this is cleared and rebuilt! This is a very busy connection and will cause a serious life/business issue.
There are two tunnels that cars use just no trucks with hazmats in tubes they have to take the key bridge or the beltway all the way around b
I totally forgot about those! Thx@@Gr8fullyDeadHead
Pray for them please
It’s sad because we can clearly see the stop section of the bridge collapsed on top of the bottom sandwiching the cars in between.
It’s not a double decker bridge
No you can’t
This was a act of terror
Key Bridge is No longer More 🙅🙅
So sad, the water is freezing. My prayers are with the unknown people lost in the water and the families. Such a sad day 😢
The company owning that cargo ship that rammed the bridge better have enough insurance money to repay Baltimore.
Why did they ram into the bridge?
HOW THE HELL HAS A LARGE SHIP STRUCK THIS BRIDGE????
Terrible situation. I feel sad. Pray for all these people. God help them.
When the ship lost propulsion why didn’t they drop anchor?
My biggest fear 😢
Mine too 😢
No airplanes. , no trains , no Bridges...
Stay away from cars that catch on fire....
@@Rick-qf5dewhat dose that even mean no one said anything about burning cars....
Managers would be like “hey the ship is due back in port Wednesday what’s the eta for getting it up and running?”
Did they even try to stop, is there an anchor? Or anything else they could have done besides nothing but head towards the bridge? And who or what company actually owns this ship
I thought tugboats are suppose to guide containerships back out to sea. Here in Alabama, mobile port authority does this for bigger ships. Sorry for the people affected
Thats scary!
who took the main video of the ship crashing
How long will it take to rebuild? Baltimoreans NEED that bridge! I think it should be rebuilt exactly as it is, to reduce design and building time (the lost bridge did, apparently, serve just fine), with the exception that the abutments would be rebuilt to withstand and impact from the biggest ships allowed into the harbor. It should be rebuilt post-haste, at whatever cost, because ultimately, the shipping company must be forced to pay for it.
If the shipping company can’t cover the cost, it should be seized and nationalized. In the future, ships should be required to carry billions of dollars worth of insurance against losses like these.
Horrible Tragedy...it should Have Never Happened! What's going on in the minds of people who should Know What They're doing. At least one person should be responsible for this malfunction. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families. So sad.⚘️❤️
No look at the Hudson. Boats. Divers. Extreme urgency. Everyone on board. It’s the only way to save anyone
Why can u see it on fire when going down if u screen shoot it the right time ? And it is a mental bridge very weird.

I used to think that this type of accidents just happen, but after the Nord Stream sabotage, I think that some big accidents, might happen for a reason.
Wow
Aren't driven pile caissons supposed to protect bridge structures? Was there any, were they adequate, and/or did they simply fail?
That went down fast
Paper bridge ???
The ship dragged the bridge, so did more damage.
How did that cargo not sink??
Mayor’s reaction basically “dang, that sh- was crazy”.. kkthnx bye
What I do not get is, For being a very trafficked area for big ships Why is there no protection around the Bridges column's ??? So if a big ship looses power or someone wants to deliberately hit the bridge this would prevent this from happing !!!!!!!!!!!
Into the column???? Who is the captain? Who owns the ship? 👃👃👃👃👃
A Singaporean own shipping company 😢😮😅
I think they said the ship lost power in a different video
The captain is a port captain who brings ships in and out of port waters
they had technical problems and then dropped at least one anchor to try and slow down.
@@jimgray335-- I think you mean the pilot. A pilot is not the ship master (captain).
Did the crew make it off alright?

Super inflation 😩
I wonder why they did not call the tug boats from the port to support? it took quite a long time before hitting to the bridge! or the ship is too big for tug boats can hold her back!!
