But, if Dominque would have broken down in competition, she would have been treated the same way!! It’s a shame, that these great women of color are awesome elite athletes, but if they fall just once in competition they are immediately looked upon with hate. It shows that once we can’t bring the US glory in Sports, how quickly they turn on her. On Social media, I thought I had heard it all, but the racists in the U.S. were saying such ugly things that it kinda blew my mind, and this was before her mental issues. And, then racists in Russia were also saying ugly things against her.

Thank you Dominique Dawes for your support of Simone Biles. So many athletes have criticized and condemned her for her decision to put her mental health first. Plus what no one is reporting except Yahoo Sports is that by her pulling out she enabled the rest of the team to win silver. Her bad/low score after the vault hurt the team and if she had continued getting low scores, the team may not have gotten a medal of any kind at all. Simone herself said that was a factor.

I think they call it “Team USA” and NOT “Simone biles USA” maybe the team captain should be the coach and not a contestant. These are humans and NOT animals like lions that have a male lion at the head of the Tribe. The team captain should not have so much responsibility and maybe there should be a backup captain too. In any case these Olympian’s should have a mental evaluation to prove they are capable of such a responsibility because many Olympian’s from other nations have allot of pressure on them to WIN and are shun in there own nations when they don’t WIN. Its NOT just Simone its the entire Olympic system. These participants have allot of pressure not just to represent but to WIN. And I think America should take the rains and point this out to other nations that is NOT about WINNING but celebrating human ability to be your best. Its NOT just about humans but the machines and devices we are building and testing these devices we test in the olympics to help humans perform their best.

I wonder what's the REAL reason some people are upset about the greatest gymnast of all times being called the greatest. Instead Simone tells her teammates on the floor with on these eyes on them wondering what the heck going on? What Simone did to her teammates wasn’t fair & I’m sure they’re parents didn’t appreciate the way Simone handle the situation either? This is no way to handle a situation as a team leader as Simone is & is highly respected in gymnastics! I personally think this whole situation could have been handled a lot better by Simone! What would have happened if one of the other gymnastics done this to Simone at the last minute how do you think Simone would feel? That’s a lot of pressure on the rest of the teammates to step up & fill a big void! I’m not blaming Simone for her mental health issues! this aint bashing.
truth is, she (Simone) is just too hyped. she was being put in the pedestal more than the many other strong athletes representing the USA, which is already partial to begin with. how the media pushed and labeled her as the 'best' made her lose the ability to win (especially after realizing that her competition were doing better) and the courage not to quit (regardless of the result). it is very easy to say that she has become mentally unfit, as the reason of her pulling out. true or not, however, isnt it the same for many years already that she was being 'hailed' as the best? the pressure should no longer be an issue to her in the first place.
at the end of the day, she just really fears losing all I can say. i still remember before how Kelly Strugg kept her composure with an injury and struggled to still pursue completing the last vault (and unfortunately suffered even more after), but gave the USA its first team gold! she has the spirit of of true sportsperson. im not saying Simone is not, but her quiting is very questionable to me frankly. Just saying.....
Yes, mental health is still everything... no questions about that. but i doubt if she (along with the rest) havent gone mental check pass before the games, even more so, way before being selected as team USA for that matter.
its just the fear of losing, i can tell.

So why just athletes deserve mental health breaks? What about other pressure packed professions who deal with life and death like piolets, policeman, surgeons? They can just walk away in the middle of action?

They should if they feel their job is too much pressure. But on the other hand, sport is nothing more than entertainment, whereas a pilot for example is responsible for the lives of other people, so I think it's a different thing.

Considering how many of those people actually have some sort of mental illness but a lot of them keep it inside. Some turn to alcohol, drugs to cope, a lot make mistakes because they do not take the time to figure out what is happening.

This is not brave. This was very weak. She will regret this for the rest of her life. Supporting this quitter mentality is why America is slipping down the rankings in everything. The mental stress is what athletes sign up for. It's part of competition. Mental toughness is not a clichè it's a real thing. Supporting this is ridiculous.

Why are you defending her quitting on her team mates? There is no 'I' in team. She chocked and then she quit because "it wasn't fun anymore." There's NOTHING admiral about that.
