@@swarm232 If you listen to Cortex you'll find two explanations there (well, more, but here are the main 2):
1. He doesn't read the majority of his email, and if an email looks to wordy he skips it as well. He has an assistant go through most of his contact stuff and forward him things of interest.
2. Much more importantly, Grey is not a social guy. Going to cons and meeting people there is about as taxing as he wants to get, and he has to prep himself for that. He doesn't want to meet fans out in the wild, and he hates even his baristas recognizing him in coffee shops.
Edit actually the second point comes up more on Hellointernet, since Brady is the opposite of him in that regard.

I feel your pain about missing sources. An organization I belong to sent a document of ministry-by-ministry suggestions to the Canadian Government in the 80s. I found out about this from a point form history we produced marking 50(?) years in operation. Curious, I starting looking for a copy of the document. The organization didn't have it so I checked library archives. The Toronto Library says they have it but it is currently missing. I'm not quite at the level of emailing former cabinet ministers about a document they may have glanced at for all of four seconds in the 80s but give me time, I'll get there.

I have to say I love your rendition of NY and NJ fighting personified. It absolutely adorable. Great thanks to your animator and artist for making me think two stick figures with state flag skirts are cute.
I know nobody will probably read this, but let's do some number crunching. The Sraten Island coastline in sources I found is given as 35 miles. This is obviously wrong, as due to coastline paradox it is actually infinite, but I have no 4eason to doubt it as solid aproximation. To be on the safe side lets say that the navigable route arpund the Island would aproximate 45 miles. to ease later calculation lets convert it to Nautical Miles. Rounded up result is 40 NM. Now, important part, 1 knot is equal to one NM/h. Now sources give top speed of USS constitution as 13-15 knots. Obviously, She is a much later ship, and fast for her time, but that is a starting point. Going down from there, lets say that fastest available ship was capable of half that speed, but due to a lot of manouvring it could avarage no more than third of it on the day with favoueable wind. Rounded down from from the lowest numer we get 13/2=6.5, and 6.5/3 gets us just over 2 knts, a speed at which you can encircle Sraten Island at just over 20 hrs. And this is a somewhat conservative calculation, the more realistic time for a fast XVII century skiff would be closer to 15 hts, and anybody with sailing expirience would know it at the time. Now, dragging tje stupud barrels might slow you down enough to make it 23hrs, but I wouldnt bet on it.
