Last year was the worst year ever for me. The passing of a close friend, my wife seperated for no understandable reason (I only got to be married for two weeks...) she totally blindsided me... and I had to accept that I only could fram then on see my son every other week...It felt like last year would never end. But when I now listen to this playlist and think back on last year I try to see the good moments...My son is happy when he is with me, school is actually fun again and I´m finally smiling once in awhile. I love this playlist, always listening to it while I´m out walking. Trying to appreciate life again. Love from Sweden.

I began listening to Chillhop in the Spring of 2020, when COVID first hit. I started with this video. Despite the later suffering and feelings of isolation to come, that spring of doing schoolwork at home with spring unfolding out of my doors while listening to this music will forever be a fond memory to me. This collection of 2019's best will always bring me back to a brief period of time in which I had a respite from responsibilities and the time to fully enjoy observing the beautiful creation surrounding me. 1pm its just me and my mom home alone cooking while she teaches me and tells me stories of her past. I'll be the last of 4 moving out this year and its a big and hard transition especially when I'm the last born. We had a lot of ups and downs but having a single mother like her I'm beyond blessed. Which makes it hard knowing that shes so social cause i know she'll be lonely. Yet moments like this I'll remember that we both love lofi and its one of the many things that connects us.

I'm studying for the most important exams in my life again after I've failed last year. Because this how things run around here, you have exams when you finish school and if you do good, you might have a future. But in my country I feel like I have no future. That's why I want to leave. And I will once I ace these exams and finish college. So I can find a job in Germany, where my girlfriend lives. I spent some minutes reading through the comments and I felt connected with people I've never seen before nor talked to before. For an hour that I'm listening to these beats, I didn't paid much attention on the picture and now that I have I can't help but dream about being in the corner of this bar, in my girlfriend's lap, feeling safe and warm as we talk with our friends and sipping on some hot chocolate. I can't stop myself from imagining how it'd feel to hear her heartbeat and feel her warmth as I'm surrounded by people I love. That's the only reason why I'll study harder than I've ever have. So that dream can become reality.

I'll try to keep this to a reasonable length . . . during this quarantine era of early 2020 I have had to shift my therapy sessions to phone calls. I really didn't like it at first but I ended up making a ritual of waking up early, making my coffee, clean off my desk in my art studio and turn this on. I maximize the image and then call my therapist. So for the past month and a half I have been staring at this cafe image once a week with these tunes playing while I try and unfuck my 45 year old brain. This art -- the image and the music-- has become this safe place, this familiar locale where I go when I am talking. It's like I get to sit down in a public place without a mask on, not worried about what to touch or getting annoyed about those who aren't wearing masks or getting too close or OH GODS IS THIS ALL BULL SHIT?!! But this chill cafe full of animals and soft lights and groovy little tunes weaving through the scene is a very real place in my soul now. And I have a place to go when there's no place to go. Thanks guys. Can't thank you enough.

As often as I like having my personal time alone, I always dreamed of moments like this- lots of people enjoying themselves and plenty for the party to do in a cozy setting. It's charming, it's lively, it's... home.

My very first job at 17 was in a “mom & pop” café. My dream ever since was to open my own cozy, chill place somewhere. I gave up that dream years ago when all the mom & pop stores have all but disappeared.
