Chris, those lights on the rear bumper...the ones you decided to face sideways...GREAT IDEA! Not only does it provide light from all 4 sides, those lights are so bright, it creates a line on the road, making it even more visible. Thoroughly impressed...all police cars should have that mandatory. Kudos.
I would appreciate these on a cop car too- sometimes they jump ahead to "run a break" to get traffic to slow down b/c of fresh accident ahead of us, and it's so sudden then they weave across all the lanes- the light-line would be handy reference.
Exactly. I think it just provides more "surface area" if you will, as opposed to just blinding blinking lights.

ChrisFix I got a 2000 Chevy Malibu that I want to strip to bare metal and lay down a couple layers of primer, but instead of paint, I want to wrap it, any ideas?
Just wrap the paint that is on it now. No need to strip it to bare metal. Bondo any dents or deep gouges and primer over that. Stripping the whole car of paint wont be easy or cheap
ChrisFix Yeah I know, but the paint that's on this car is ready to go anyway. I feel that just taking it all off and reprime is the way to go. Lots of little things need to be done to bring car back to factory condition.

I'm an electrician and i worked with LEDs for a good time, so don't get discouraged if you don't have a soldering station nor soldering paste, you can still solder it's just a bit harder

I've just finished watching all these project police interceptor episodes in one sitting. All fascinating to watch. I thought putting those lights on the side at the rear was not a good idea until the end. That night drive, wow, it's definitely the business. A great job done start to finish Chris.
A real car has a light in EACH window, sides and front, 100% redundant.
I think the lights on the side look a little weird? I've never seen a police car with that before. They're a little susceptible to damage from somebody scraping the side of the vehicle too. A bullbar would have been a nice addition too

This is not a department issued vehicle. If you look at Sirennet's videos of builds done at star cars you'll see lighting mounted on the sides. Normally feniex cannons or Whelen vertexs. But I've seen cases with Whelen ions, or code 3 chase light heads.

Liam S well this cop car isnt exactly made for pursuits, its just general use for police officers but not have the car under extreme conditions
It's actually very common! Vehicles that have to respond to emergencies are very susceptible to accidents while traveling through intersections and red lights. This means that it is very important to have lights facing the side in order to remain visible when doing so. You're right, many cruisers go with the push bumper mounted lights, and vehicles with exterior light bars have coverage too. On this vehicle it is rather strange to see them mounted so far in the rear, and nothing in the front.

Edit: Saw a post down there about the car being CL but the ad had expired. I wonder what happened. My guess is that it wasn't allowed because it wasn't standard issue equipment or something.
I was wondering why a little guy was "building" a police car, usually they come from some assembly line where everything is added, so taking a retired police car and turning it back into a budget police car seemed weird when I first saw it.
Zero Shima town population of 38......police force = 4 deputies....one truck and 3 vehicles.....1 wagon lol.....and who cares about the damn lights....How about some info about suspension, exhaust and engine mods?? To hell with the lights. We need to know about the nice mods....oh yea...the town's budget...they're already in debt for this month's smart phone bill. LOL
You obviously didn't watch the entire series, the owner wanted an off-duty police car, which means his private car. That's why Chris mod the car.

FYI if you had pulled the carpeting up on the front passenger side the factory wiring harness is there for the emergency lighting and sound systems on all P71's. I've wired quiet a few for Volunteer Firefighters/EMT's, Law Enforcement POV's they use on traffic details and Security companies

Jansel Kenneth Tolentino an armored car has a sticker mounted on the door panel. This particular CVPI doesn't have the sticker, therefore the car isn't armored.
It was a police car so it will of been previously bulletproof
I can still remember when I first watched it 4 years ago when it was also brand new this video but this project is really cool that it really make me want to build a police car.

Dude I got a pair of those firefighter lights that he send you and dude those are legit. I got the same ones but their still intact with the side mirrors. Love how he brought the spot light back to life. Those things brand new are like 170
Hey Chris, the sides of the front licence plate mount were perfect spots for the lights you were given. Having light coverage on the sides near the front is important. Otherwise known as intersection clearing lights.

nice job on the setup ... 3 things i saw (in 2022) that you should of done was found a LED replacement bulb for the spot light and led bulbs for headlights /turn signals when you were doing the build up in 2016 but other then that ya did good simple & clean
When I saw him coat the inside of the console with Flex Seal, I instantly liked the video.
Should add a small LED light or something for the center console so if he ever needs to search through it for paper work or something he has a nice little light to help him out. because being in uniform you have very little mobility let alone wiggle room for twisting and turning

or could just velcro strip something to the top of the console's cover and when he opens it could just "tap" it and the led light will come on and stay on until he taps it again

well that's a little too big, just something small enough to fit in the center console so when he opens it, it's not in the way.
podagee4life Gooseneck lamp _is_ moveable, and would easily maneuver around, to even illuminate the storage bin.
It would be ideal- for paperwork, etc. without an overhead glare of the Dome light.
I'm sure if the Officer or Chris discovers a need for something- it will surely be added!

There were body armour panel options for the crown vic doors - but for this use case they probably aren't needed, and obtaining them would be a bit tricky

Great series!👍👍. However, you mounted the rear deck light/traffic advisor upside down! 😳. Red should always be on the driver’s side in a cruiser (at least in the USA anyways).

Fun fact - The heads on the 4.6 in that car say PI on them, but that doesn't stand for Police Interceptor, it stands for Power Improved.
Another fun fact - Battery in the car was not related to physical violence, but in regards to electricity.

It literally says 'Police Interceptor' right on most CVPI badges. It doesn't stand for Power Improved.
I'm not talking about the car, I'm talking about the heads on the engine. All of the 2 valve Ford modular series of engines got PI heads with different intake manifolds. The later 5.4 and even the 6.8 V10 say PI on the heads and every Crown Vic after 1999 says PI regardless of whether it's a Police Interceptor.
