@@HansWick At the end of the video he explained how it works.. Basically he bought the car for 1,100$ and for that amount difference (600$) he'd get 60 laps penality. But the rules allow to resell some non safety parts and come closer as possible to 500$.
Then he sold some of the parts of the cars like the radio, wood, speakers and few more things. Subtract the resell from the initial price and he got 540$ budget car with 4 laps penality. :)

Chris's enthusiastic energy makes fixing cars seem like a walk in the park. Smh it took me 3hrs to replace my ignition c. and sparks alone.
You kinda get used to it after doing this stuff a while. But it still takes me like 30min to replace my spark plugs cuz i meticulously gap them. And maintenance, it’s never really easy and fun, rust will ruin your day. Importantly, you still saved money by doing your coils and sparks on your own.
You still got it done on you own. There’s something to be said for that.
I know, right? But come on, Chris has been doing it for years, we can be glad that we're getting paid with knowledge and experience, maybe some day you will profit from it.
I am like this with Laptops Tablets Personal computers phones it is easy once you get the hang of it.

I’m a tire tech and I would recommend the continental Xtreem contacts they are aggressive street tire, sticky on the track and where well. They have a tread where of 500-600. AA on traction. A on temp and W speed rating which good for about 160 mph. 👍🏻
I got a 2005 BMW 325i for 2k. It was misfiring, but the body was clean, a few manageable dings and scratches, botched interior, but it was practically rust free. Rare for a used car in my area, so it was a big win. 2 blocks after driving it from the buyer upper radiator hose blew. Had to walk an hour around the city to find a replacement, and use the tools of a friendly old guy to get her going.
I knew going in it was going to be a lot of work to make it reliable. So far, I've rebuilt the vanos, replaced the coil packs, sparkplugs, coolant lines, exhaust intake boots, mass airflow sensor, fuel injectors, valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, thermostat, water pump, and flushed and replaced all the fluids.
It was frustrating, painful, and freaking awesome.
I’m glad to see you got her going! There is not a lot that can beat that feeling after all that!

This is honestly a very great way for somebody to learn how to work on cars. Just follow thee videos while tearing a car apart, do the race, then expand on your knowledge by learning how to build it back up but in your own way.

Ah yes, you get penalty laps for being over the budget but can sell (unnecessary) parts off the car which count towards its total purchase price.

She has the full luxery pack on her, right color, leather interior ect... people called me foolish for buying her. But here I am, nearly a year further and she is my daily ride. She's getting new Koni struts soon with H&R lowering springs. She's my project car and I'm happy with her. Your video's has helped me with doing certain maintaince stuff. You can sell: carpets, side indicators, spare wheel, set with spanners that is in trunk cover, sunroof (you'll remove it anyway), glove box, engine cover (plastic), BMW "kidneys" (silver/black in front of a hood - where you open hood - replace them with mesh) - radio and audio system. Do not know what rules says about: inside door panels, back seats + safety belts and lots of other inside parts.

The sunroof counts as a driver safety item so cannot be sold for a penalty reduction

He could also sell the ac compressor, i feel like those could go for a fair bit of money
