I think it'll be a red 1998 mustang gt with a manual transmission. I also think chris will mod it with coilovers, performance exhaust, performance headers, racing seats, a short throw shifter, and a hydraulic e-brake.

This is awesome! I actually found your channel recently due to starting my own drift project and your channel helped with a few simple brake and suspension mods I did! I'm pretty new to drifting, but one thing I didn't see on your list was any suspension work. I'd suggest that first, also look at welding the diff if it's a open. Good luck, can't wait to see more! And I suggest name Project ChrisDrift.

I'd definitely look into upgrading your suspension before any of the mods you mentioned, it's the most important part for a drift car, and it's why people don't usually go the american car route, but you can do it if you have the time

I know this is a really D video but would have loved to have seen you buy a RX-8. Had one myself and the handbrake was almost designed for drifting. Mustang is still cool and it's been awesome seeing you improve from being unable to drift to being able to take some lucky subscribers around track drifting like a pro. Great set of videos and has given me the imputus to try and get into it myself. Of course I'll be getting an RXOas there so cheap and love the power.

Chris I love your vids and very inspired by them My dad has a 2006 Masada 3 hatchback 4d and I think it need a new transition but not sure it was slipping on the highway then wouldn’t shift it would be awesome if you could tell me what might be wrong with it or what I can do to see if it will start thanks you for making all of these vidieos keep them up

Far better than "Driftstang", Driftstang just sounds retarded, it's like taking you'd throw a Mustang front onto a Skyline and call it a Mustline, or a Skyline front onto a Mustang and call it Skystang, which both sound better than Driftstang though, but that's only because of the model names, Mustline would actually even fit a circuit car since you must line.

Looking at ChrisFix’s initial goals checklist for the Driftstang, I’d say he got ¾ of it done. The ones that really stick that could be done later on is the supercharger, which is what everyone is really waiting for…
The Roll Cage + Harness would’ve been nice but I think Chris did make it clear that he isn’t likely to do that so that he can drive the Driftstang in relative comfort and safety on public roads.

got that right Pinky, stripped of dead weight and a BIT more power will be perfectly FUN learning in. near everything available pretty cheap too if he's got a couple good-big junkyards nearby to pull from.
naaw, carpet not THAT heavy but everything sure adds up fast. smoggy-crud, AC, stock seats, spare+hanger, tailgate, rear bumper, peeled away almost 400 lbs from my old Datsun longbed, then going the other direction went from stock 110-115 hp to about 160-165 with good intake-cam-exhaust. I know it sounds exaggerated but old stock Datsun were THAT overboard choked back, for reliability reasons mostly. 165 ponies dont sound like much but in something around 2300lbs and geared down, darn quick! sure the valves were floating at 85+ mph spinning near 7k, but it'd do 70 in 1/8 mile consistently, very mean at stoplights, breaking loose hard in 1st-2nd-3rd, big chirp into 4th doing 50-55. sheared driveline bolts twice before going bigger.. crazier it was my DD, at 170k compression was 30-35 lb in all 4 (dead!) for always revving silly high. got asked "wth in that thing" a lot, pop the hood and "no way!". it's what I built it to do and all it was good for, NOT fast just quick.
hp/weight ratio goes up lots with stripping "dumb weight", and goes up TONS when you tweak up more hp, then go lower gear ratios things get VERY quick without going turbo etc. can do same for 1st drift car, only gonna drift 15-30 mph with speedometer reading 40-80 (ignore that watch the tach!).
seat time (darn right Pinky!).. the river flooded leaving a thick layer of silt YAAY, it rained on a smooth parking lot YAAY, it snowed/iced YAAY! every chance to learn its weight distribution, pitching, correcting etc, take advantage! it's not exactly same as dry pavement but still similar enough, gotta know the feel REALLY well before you begin shredding a bunch of tire$. on dry it's going to snap back (traction) quicker, you get used to that fast.
