*IMPORTANT!: IF YOUR SPARK PLUG BROKE INSIDE OF YOUR ENGINE, READ THIS!*
So, the other day I changed my spark plugs, and as I went to remove one, it broke, leaving the metal threads in the head of my engine, while the ceramic portion came out. So, if this happens, try this first before you have a mechanic take the head off to remove the hollow shell of the theads.
    1. Get a #5 size "easy-out" screw extractor bit. These are used for removing screws with stripped heads.
    2. Attach your 10 inch extension to your 3/8in ratchet.
    3. Get a 7/16in size, 3/8in drive, star socket, and turn it *backwards* so the star portion is on the end of the extension. It should fit, but wont be snug.
    4. Insert the square end of the screw extractor bit into the square hole in the 7/16in star socket.
    5. VERY slowly, screw the extractor counter-clockwise (to the left) into the inside of the shell of the spark plug.
As the screw extractor bites into the inside of the broken spark plug, it will slowly unscrew it as well, saving you potentially hundreds or thousands of dollars by not having to take it to a mechanic. I had to do this on my 2011 INFINITI G37x and it came out fine. Just MAKE SURE you unscrew it VERY slowly and you wont have a problem. Use a long skinny magnet to remove it from the inside of the engine.
*Please upvote this as it could help people in a bad situation save some money!*

ChrisFix - If the ceramic insulator came out whole you have an opening above the cylinder. EZ-outs can create small metal shavings and you risk them falling in. In wouldn’t recommend this in a hard to reach plug where you can’t watch for this.

Went to Rock Auto and bought the OE Manufacturer plugs (copper and 80% cheaper. $2 vs $10) and now my car runs so much better than those more expensive ones. I'd much rather swap my plugs out every 30k miles than the car run like crap for 60k+ miles. I always come back here for a refresher course on how to swap them out. Thanks again Chris.

You have become one of my favorite youtubers because of your videos. I haven't seen many, only ones that are relevant at the time I need them, but you have been so incredibly helpful. Teach REAL helpful information and not the dumb stuff schools think are relevant. Knowing how to manage finances, knowing how to maintain your vehicle and work on it, and how to cook and clean among other daily life necessities should be mandatory. Things that I thought would be difficult to do on my car are surprisingly easy. You don't just show us how to do things but you are so thorough in teaching how, why, and when. You explain what everything does when it's relevant to the video, in this case the plugs and wires, what they do, how they are made aka the anatomy of the pieces, how to use certain tools for the job, when this should be done, how to find the information that's relevant to our specific vehicle, different options, in parts, etc. Thank you!

In school I always hated when the teacher said here is the stuff you need to memorize. I found it so much easier if I understood “why” or “how”... that way it all makes sense. Like just saying add salt to the recipe doesn’t help. Why... add salt to bring out the flavor in the soup. Now it makes sense!

@@robertbridgman1451 they are notoriuos for breaking, especially if u waited the 140k miles that ford recommends. Ford will also have you sign a waover that if they break a plug, you pay labor to gave them fix at about $1k. Do thwm much sooner, use plenty of penetrant first, let it soak good, take you time, dont crank it out or it will break. When replacing use anti seaze for mext time.

Today I finally decided to replace my spark plugs on my Kia Spectra 2007, and I would never had done it myself without this video!
I definitely almost screwed up 'cause I didn't attach the spark plug to the socket correctly, so the plug fell off inside the well :( luckily the plug was fine.
Also my ratchet wasn't grabbing the spark plug socket after installing the new plug, so I had to tape the extension bar to the socket lol.
