The worn area on the left side of the driver's seat is fairly common. It is usually caused by part of your body(belt/waistband) rubbing that area as you get in/out of the seat(More evident with "larger" people). The seat belt usually does not rub that area when you sit in the seat to drive. Sit there and try it out. :-) I've changed so many leaky A/C evaporators over the years. Some are really a PITA to get out. Great video!

And you’ll be able to buy the performance pads and rotors because you saved so much. The only annoying thing is you have to jack each axel up and take each tire off unless you have two floor jacks and hopefully for safety 4 jack stands. But chrisfix has a lot of diy stuff. I watched his videos for brakes and I did it myself with no problems at all. I was quoted between $380-$650 for brakes. Not even rotors. And I save $400-600.

When checking the interior, check for mold, dampness, musty odors. If the interior has been cleaned and you can't see any mold on the seats, check the seat backs, underside, back seats, pull the back seats up if it's an suv/van, and don't forget to check the seat belts, pull them out as far as possible to see if they are moldy or if they were cleaned.

Just one thing..... in this exterior inspection video from 12:12 to 12:55 you missed one thing (I'm not an expert as you) that is, the door rubber seal or gasket. If you pull it down/out you get to see a factory seal where two metal sheets are spot welded together. And if the seal isn't perfect, the car might have been through any accident...

When looking it the trunk I always like to pull down the carpet trim on the sides to inspect the shock towers/inner fenders. Also look along the seams where the panels meet. This area is a prime location for rust to develop. Especially true for cars in the salt belt.

Chris is really thorough and methodical, wish I had him along in the past, could have avoided lot of hardship. Just one thing I got to say, tire alignment is like tracking in or out of wheels, but what he is talking about when rear wheel is tilted in at the top is camber not alignment.

40000 km in the city is completely different of 40000 km in the highway. I ve seen 40000km carswith completely torn insides, and somes in pristine condition. Same for pedals and steering weels. I had a peugeot where the steering wheel started peelong of at 20k. It is difficult to evaluate this stuff.

A great many friends of mine and including myself have owned s2000s for a long time. Some of us for over a decade. I have never seen the seats turn brown and the steering wheels almost never fade. I’ve never so much had the check engine light turn on in mine and it’s been 7 years now. Also the car sees a fair amount of track use which is basically like putting 6-12 months of commuting rounded up in one day. Greatest little car ever. Buy one and cherish it.

They may have owned it for all of two weeks, and bought it with the intention of selling it to someone else. They may have inherited it, or were given it.

I like his style, very thorough. A lot of sellers hate it when you do an inspection like this- make sure they are ok with it and bring a buddy to help you so it can go fast. Avoid ads that say “no tire kickers” because they are most likely not pleasant to deal with or trying to rip you off. Make sure you are your buddy have a plan, with 2 people you can knock out an inspection and test drive in 20-30 minutes and the owner won’t be as mad about potentially wasting their time. Also I probably wouldn’t beat like hell on their floorboards without asking lol

Excellent video, I would add just a couple things. If you can look under the car front to back in a safe manner it can reveal hidden damage. Also if it has the owners manual and the cigarette lighter works that is usually a good sign when the rest of the car checks out. It is best to check out a car when it is stone cold. That way you can,1) look at the coolant(usually) 2, check for cold start issues 3) listen for piston slap or lifters. If the owner meets you at the local mini mart, be wary. Observe and listen to them and go with your gut instinct. Please take a friend.

Nice job with the video series. Alot of very useful and important info is provided here. It's not easy to get that all done effectively in a fair amount of time. Your lists are an awsome idea to help shoppers NOT make a bad purchase. Sharing that knowledge is an excellent way to use the internet. It seems some people are not mature enough to appreciate your efforts as much as a person with a basic education does. Unfortunately those individuals are not likely to bother reading this since many of the words I used contain more than five letters. But who knows maybe if they continue to view informative videos such as yours and attend school they will one day become useful members of society. Keep up the good work.

One other thing you definitely want to check is the glass and seal. I’m not sure if it’s covered in another video. But I had a car that kept getting water in the trunk. I thought it was the trunk seal and replaced it. Still leaked. I look real close to the real windshield and noticed it had been replaced with a factory original glass just put in sloppy so water was leaking. I also decided to check the the rest of the windows and found the little side window in the rear had been replaced but it was a mess and it too had been leaking.
