- Campaign apps are on the rise. Downloaded by organizers, volunteers and even just fervent supporters, users give these apps lots of valuable information, like access to their contact list, GPS and Bluetooth data. Campaigns can then use this data to build out voter profiles, and better target people with political advertising. But the privacy implications, as well as the potential for voter manipulation, has some deeply concerned.

@@good-tn9sr yep, that's what many Chinese citizens say about public surveillance as well. But that's the kind of good citizens many countries want to have, so you would probably fit in quite well. As long as you don't have any over ambitious goals that can threaten anyone in power or dissenting opinions.

It actually speaks to the problem with data collection when you can say Trump is basically doing what Obama, Hillary, and Biden did and do but its Trumps that is the problem. Plus completing forgetting that Google and Facebook track 50 times the data on you. It's really scary the amount of people who claim about political bias problems in data collection who also end up being politically biased when you hear their proposed solutions.

I think there is a lot of unnecessary panic about how data is used to influence people's decisions. All of civilization is basically about influencing other people's decisions without the use of force. You pay people to do things for you, you seduce people to sleep with you, you train children to make them behave the way that we want. Machine learning & AI, like all other forms of technology, basically amps up what individuals have always done at a smaller scale. Trying to regulate that may seem noble but at the end of the day, GDPR basically translates to one more pop up that most people will not read before clicking on Agree and moving on to the site or app they want to use.
Rather than go on this global campaign for regulating big data, the campaign should be educating people on how to access information about both sides of the decisions they need to make. There really should be truth in advertising laws. There is nothing wrong in me being persuaded to make a choice, so long as I make that choice having all the facts. Most people are happy to be seduced by a crush. You don't get upset when you find out your crush seduced you by wearing perfume, or looking good. You get upset when you find out they lied about having a job, or not being a jerk.
Safe, safe and safe, just Biden with Obama behind can save American. They always take care of Heath and no racism for many years. Please vote for your health and your family's health!

@@EvanRustMakes I mean by the music that they associated when talking about the candidates. From my point of view they wanted to portray Biden as being the underdog (which people normally root for) app wise. For the majority first half they talk about Trump's app in a very contolling way in which they have everything very meticulously managed so that nothing gets out of their hands and later comes the hero of the story the other option. They present it in a way that wants to reflect the campaings values and what they stand for, they are more opened minded, their intent is to inform and later on persuade etc.
I mean i could go on forever but most importantly a news source showulden't take a side.
@@elbaltasd I see... They are right that Biden's app is the underdog in this, and that Trump's collects more data and can be seen as more nefarious, but I see how it could come across as being biased.
