Uh, no. The problem is that humans are fundamentally stupid. I'm stupid, my parent's stupid, everyone's stupid. We all can be smart sometimes but we can't be smart all the times. Especially when the times start tugging on our ancestral instincts that have not been very useful to our modern lives. Until our education and understanding of modern technology and lives improve, there's definitely a need to protect the people who does not understand how to protect themselves. The alternative is to 2020 stretch for the next 20 years.
It's not "stopping" the problem. It IS the problem.
And thus why I deleted Facebook and will never use it again.

Either FB is a publisher, and can therefore be sued. Or its a public platform and shouldn't be able to take down content it doesn't like. You can't be both. Secondly, how does $10,000 of FB ads purchased by Russia in 2016 matter, but Chinese interference in 2020 not matter?

@@huskiefan06 That would be unconstitutional. Consider it this way: if I asked fox news to give me airtime every single day to push a liberal agenda, I would be denied. Why? Because they are a media platform that has the right to deny my agenda. Facebook is no different. They have the right to control the content on their platform in whatever way they please. Count your lucky stars they aren't censoring more than than they are now. Facebook is a free service. In order to use it, you agree to their terms of service. Don't like it? Don't use it, simple.
@@limitisillusion7 There's a big difference between a news outlet (publisher) and social media (platform). Publishers curate content based on an agenda, which I could care less about. Regardless of that agenda, they are subject to lawsuits. For example, when CNN leveled BASELESS charges against Nick Sandmann and destroyed his reputation, Sandmann sued CNN and WON. Social media platforms are either publishers (and thereby subject to lawsuits), or they are platforms, and must allow all political viewpoints to speak, even if the platform itself disagrees with their political view. You can't have it both ways.

With such a massive user base (~ one third of the world's population, and nearly two thirds of the US population) FB should be considered a public utility / entity as they are bigger than any single country. They need to be regulated, they don't get to go without accountability, and pick "winners and losers" for the world as they wish.

When Americans, Europeans, and the international community and media at large, were showing their support for a specific candidate and swaying public opinion over the 2014 Indonesian Presidential Election, did that count as foreign meddling and intervention?

Given that the subject matter and even the title pertain to the 2020 election, and given the clear evidence that the foreign interference in 2016 was used to promote trump while denigrating clinton, why would this NOT be about trump?

Facebook needs to fix its internal problem first ASAP. Most of their employees disagree with Zuckerberg in every of his decision. Zuckerberg doesn't take radical action in reducing misinformation in its platform.

That's why I walked out from these toxic social media platform for 2 years.

I boycott ads in general. If I'm required to turn off ad block to use a website, I don't use the website. I pay for KRplus premium because I use KRplus a lot. Other than that, I refuse as many ads as possible. If companies are making money when I watch ads, they should be paying ME to watch them as far as I'm concerned. The fact that Facebook and Google are some of the biggest corporations largely without actually selling a product or service proves that we are getting less in return than the services they offer. If a social media website is providing a free service, the value we return to them in the form of ad revenue and personal data should be just enough to pay for the production of those services, with some additional profit, NOT billions upon billions in profit. There are many things that are considered valuable to humans... love, money, privacy, social interaction, happiness, and ultimately time. The free market specializes at converting all those different types of value into financial value. Consumers are generally the disorganized party in this value exchange and are therefore not getting as much in return. In other words, the financial value they get through ad revenue and the sale and use of our personal data is greater than the sum of the value they return to us in the form of these free services. Fact is, consumers are the ones that determine how valuable our personal data and time is. This isn't a typical product where the value of labor, and by extension, time, is dependent on other costs. If we just allow them to use our personal data and feed us ads all-day, without ever checking the equality of the value exchange, then we will inevitably lose the exchange. If we were organized enough, we could very well demand payment for it. I'm not saying there is no value in the services they provide, but I'm certain that the lack of consumer organization has undervalued our time and personal data, given the influence these companies have built. Once upon a time, ads were a requirement to make up for the cost of the freely provided services. But the ad revenue Facebook and Google collect more than makes up for the cost of the services. Now more than ever, these companies are competing for your time. When you buy a tool, Craftsman does need some of your time in order for you to ultimately have a need for that tool. However, the profit Facebook earns with ad revenue is directly correlated to how much time you give them. When you buy a tool, Craftsman profits no more from the mechanic that uses it 8 hours a day vs the purchaser that uses it once. I think this disconnect is actually largely responsible for wealth inequality too. People are giving away their time for relatively very cheap services, and they are not being properly compensated.
