  • Executive orders are a powerful tool for presidents when they can’t come to an agreement with Congress. However, there are limitations on what a president can do, especially when it comes to the economy. After all, Congress appropriates spending and the Federal Reserve sets monetary policy. Still, a number of executive orders have influenced the economy in both positive and negative ways. Watch the video to learn more about some of Presidents Trump, Obama and Reagan's executive orders that left lasting impacts on the economy.

    From Wikipedia
“In his majority opinion, Associate Justice Hugo Black held that
the president lacked the power to seize the steel mills in the
absence of statutory authority conferred on him by Congress.
Five other justices agreed with the outcome of the case but
wrote concurring opinions; some of these justices ai srgued that
the president might have the power to seize property,
(absent legislative authorization) in more extreme circumstances.
Justice Robert H. Jackson's concurring opinion laid out
“a tripartite framework of presidential power” that would
prove influential among legal scholars and others charged
    with assessing executive power.
In his dissent, Chief Justice Fred Vinson argued that
the president's action was necessary to preserve the
status quo so that Congress could act in the future.
Truman was stunned by the decision,
👉🏽 but he immediately restored control of the steel mills to their owners.”👈🏽

You should cite their entire sentence with context instead of cutting different parts of their statements together to match your narrative. Not here to say you're literally pulling a Simpson's episode and making them say the opposite of what they mean, but it does seem disingenuous to cut statements like that so brazenly just for the sake of (what I can only assume to be) saving a few seconds on your video.

#savethechildren from your deficit spending ways. Deferred taxes will take future tax revenues from much needed reforms. Interest rates are oddly low. Only thing that could fix this Imbalance is a large scale war like ww2 provided economic need that corrected the huge depression. Remember the roaring 20s and then magical plummet. Low rates will do that.

    • @jonnelson9760

WWII cured the Great Depression because it provided the political will for government spending.

    • @KevinSmith-qi5yn
      @KevinSmith-qi5yn 3 년 전

The roaring 20s happened because there was a roaring economy. The Great Depression happened because the Roaring 20s increased production by 50%, but the money supply was not inflated leading to mass deflation. Government spending on it's own did nothing, what helped was deficit spending which increased the money supply. A debt based system like The Federal Reserve Bank ultimately results in deficit spending. The interest rates in the 20s were fairly high. Especially by todays standards.
