      There are already products that work around such things like VPN services. They reroute traffic to a proxy server to make it appear that you are somewhere else. One could get a VPN that would make you appear to be someone in Canada or Mexico where Tik Tok and WeChat are not banned.

      WeChat is designed to be so simple that a lot of 70/80-year-olds use it to communicate with family. The other apps in China are more complicated. eg. DouYin and KuaiShou are two major short video apps. MoMo for hedonistic young ppl. QQ is an app 20 years old and still has 700 million MAU... and if you just want messaging, texting also works great:)

    Seems odd to me that all of these folks who choose to borrow heavily to go to school can't use that education to easily pay off their loans. It just doesn't add up. Your education is what is suppose to give you a leg up on the rest of us? You are suppose to get the higher paying jobs and end up with the better lifestyles for your families. Why when they get out of school and choose to use the time and resources they do have to borrow for things like homes and cars do the rest of us get stuck with their school debt? It should be the priority to pay off that debt but it's their decisions that keep it from being paid not the rest of us. I'm really getting tired of special interests like education debt getting a handout. How about a bill that gives the rest of us $50,000 bucks to pay our debt? Debt is debt, when you borrow you should be held accountable for paying it off. The rest of us are busting our butts too.

    • @toddswenson
      @toddswenson 3 년 전

      @@bp24964s Nice, Government backed predatory loans. Loans of any kind are still loans. If you borrow beyond your means you are not being irresponsible in the first place. I can appreciate the fact that the government is looking out for the citizens best interest, but there is, no matter how you look at it, an element of personal responsibility. You have something you want, You find someone to help, You agree to the terms (that one is key) and finally sign the paperwork. It just seems a simple process to understand notwithstanding the things life throughs in your way of course, but you know, if they want to bail out these folks who want houses and cars before they pay what they owe than I would like a check too. I chose to go to work and learn my skills on the job. Now I gotta give them $50,000 dollars? It stinks.

    • @toddswenson
      @toddswenson 3 년 전

      @@bp24964s I've learned over the years here that these arguments end up being just that, arguments. Rarely if ever is anyone going to change another's mind and no one seems to ever admit theirs has been changed or gives props to good views. I try to comment with respect and hope this doesn't seem otherwise. Your calm demeanor regarding "50k isn't really actual money going into their bank accounts, but more like a release from their debt" is laughable. (Sorry) Debt is money, It's not imaginary. It's what you owe on a commitment to pay back. People accrue debt to buy stuff, in this case an education that in most cases is instruction on logic, problem solving skills and basically learning how to learn outside the classroom. To think like and be like everyone else. Just because it's not something you can hold in your hand or gaze at like diamonds, cars or airplanes, just because it's not a house doesn't mean that you didn't borrow and then spend that money. The problem with this whole screwed up system of borrowing for education is that programs like the ones being considered lead people to believe that somehow this commitment for money given and then spent is different . They make a mockery out of the whole idea of borrowing for education. From the very beginning people are taught that they don't need to pay it back. That's why the system doesn't work. Borrowers take the money and spend it, then instead of prioritising the repayment, they borrow more for homes, cars and other junk. I'm not talking about the first car or junk you need to survive, I'm talking about the stuff you can do without until you pay your bills by using the education as the tool it was meant to be. As far as "barely-adults who have no financial literacy" goes, We have all been there and to favor this group in the name of the pandemic says that their debt is different that mine. It's not. Relieve me of 50k of my debt that's been acquired to provide for my family at a rate I thought responsible for paying it back and you'll breathe new life into this old worn out body. This same thing happened during the housing crisis in 2008. My neighbor with extra cars, bikes and even a riding lawn mower got half the debt wiped out on his home. You don't think that was real money going into his bank account? Think again. It's exactly as if it did and he was just required to pay down his mortgage. Where is the special interest group for responsible, hard working people that sometimes say no to extravagant purchases to make ends meet. It's just total BS. You make lots of sacrifices to do everything right and your dumb assed neighbor gets a free house and the guy across the street, a free education. Sounds fair to me.

Perfect timing for Huawei to bring out the Harmony OS which will allow users to download wechat. Everyone in China will be using Huawei. Even Samsung/LG sales will be affected. It was about stopping China from doing well. You have to be very stupid to not know that. It's obvious. But they dont know that in 5 years from now China would be more powerful than now. Even in 2020 China has been a thread to US without their own chips. Imagine what will happen in the future what thread China will have if you let them become independent? US didnt know that if China succeed US will also succeed because every Huawei phone will have US chip. It benefit the US chip companies if China succeed. If Huawei uses their own chips Huawei cannot help US chip companies to do well. Huawei will be a difficult competitor to beat because even apple doesnt make their own chips. @Jimmy Wijaya If you cared to read history, you'd know that the West plundered resources to build their economies at the expense of the Americas, Africa and Asia. Without said resources, Europe might still be in the middle ages. The original thiefs and robber barons are now in their 10th generation safely ensconced in the capitals of Europe and US. Good for ya!

    • @shimeih2287
      @shimeih2287 3 년 전

      @isla rose yes I get that. But China bans things that aren't following their rules. That's why Facebook, google and other companies are in talks with them eg google working on a version censored for China. America is outright banning and giving tiktok and WeChat no option. That's different.
      Also if the US bans it then what makes them different. Where is the democracy they pride themselves with

    • @ansh7335
      @ansh7335 3 년 전

      @@shimeih2287 You think other countries don't have rules or cannot make one. We don't want Chinese companies. Tiktok can also be sold and follow US laws if it does not want to be banned.
      It is a problem because of Chinese censorship and gathering of personal data. Rest of the world has no problem with apps/ tech from countries other than China.
      US is a democracy and so they have responsibility to safeguard data from the autocratic state that tracks everyone and gives them social credit based on how good they are to the horrible CCP.
