im sure the startup groups with a good success rate take advantage of their reputation. and with all their success they sink ships of some of the low risk. or they make enough to please the stakeholders and have a good amount for themselves. they don't care for all the people they displace.

I don't understand vertical video. Our eyes are oriented horizontally, so your eyes naturally focus on the middle 3rd of the vertical screen, leading to an overall smaller viewing area

I got it free for tmobile. Isn't bad streaming really but nothing that stand out. The postrait streaming is unique , what they do is cut out the background and focus on who talking ?
People may not have thought about wanting it, but people like myself actually DID LIKE what they did with a lot of the content on Quibi.
Not the fail of Quibi but the amount of money invested in such a shady idea shocks me.

Like really how do you expect to get consumer's with a paid service when literaly no one has ever heard of you and there is free alternatives. I really liked that app btw. Its sad to see them go like that.
I liked the app too, and I was amongst their intended demographic! I’ve known of them the longest and stood by them more than anyone would’ve! Had they had tweaked their focus a bit, it would’ve stuck around for a while longer...
They offered a 3 month FREE TRIAL and around 80% of people didn't renew when the free trial was up.... the marketing and money were there but if the product doesn't fit the market it doesn't matter lol
Pay money to watch 10 min shorts sounds like a scam. Most shows are 30 minutes to a full hour
Good to see Meg Whitman continues to fail upward.
Trying to charge $4.99 a month for content that other providers are offering for free.. that is why they failed.

It’s such a real dang shame that this had to shut down so dang soon. As someone that was around the intended demographic, I actually liked a lot of the content that was on there from launch onto now. And that TurnStyle format made a lot of the shows more enjoyable in portrait mode more than in landscape. Well outside of Last Looks, where the editors of that show made it seem like all the interviewees there don’t believe in friggin’ personal space.
And the fact that a whole lot of those shows, along with that unique format are going to potentially be lost to time is just disheartening to a saddening degree for me. Even more so after learning that the app’s going to be sitting die in just a few short weeks.
The on the go mindset was understandable had it had not been for Covid-19 getting in the way. But I feel like had they made it a mobile FIRST app with accessibility to Chromecast and Airplay support on day one, it would’ve been able to make it through another month instead of making it STRICTLY a mobile only service, as unique as it considerably was at the time.
God I’m going to miss this app...😔
I love you Mackenzie , you're so awesome. I don't think anyone could do the after hours better than you do, I do not usually like mainstream media, but I think you're giving a great summary on important events related to business and finance. Keep it up.

TBH Quibi was a bad idea. There is a lot of competition and no real content on the platform. RIP
*Everyone always tells you....that you just have to find that one big tech stock like Apple and Netflix. But for every Netflix, there are 1000 Quibi’s. That’s why investing is so frustrating and difficult. Quibi had the backing of reputable companies like Disney. And it’s board included Meg Whitman, founder of EBay. You figure you can’t lose in a tech stock like that in an increasing tech world. Wrong? Quibi was one of many tech stocks that tanked during the pandemic. I acknowledge Quibi for at least returning shareholder funds and not hopelessly continue to revive a sinking ship and waste additional investor funds.*
I'll speculate before I watch the video.
They offered a product no one wanted and charged an amount no one was willing to pay. But mostly the first.
Quibi was stupid since day one. I remember seeing an ad for it and thinking this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.
Car insurance commercials had higher production value than Quibi content 😂
At least Quibi KNEW what it was about! Car Insurance commercials these days are so overly produced that they hardly even had anything to do with car insurance at all! Quibi was NOTHING like those wastes of ad space!

I remember when they announced this turkey. They came on CNBC and they kept talking about how professional it was and because of that professionalism they were going to win. Even the CNBC commentators didn’t buy it and questioned them and they just refused to listen. I do not think they even had any money at that time. For all of the fools that we’re thinking of giving them the money at that time only needed to watch that interview to know that it was a bad idea. I guess these are people with nothing better to do but throw money down a hole. I have a business that I started six years ago and I couldn’t get funding to buy a box of paper clips. who are these people that can convince suckers to give them hundreds of millions of dollars based on fake ideas?

I'd say producing a movie with a portrait aspect ratio would be a tricky one if it isn't used for social media. I personally prefer landscape just because of the human's natural peripheral vision.
Quibi will connect their 10 minute episodes into 30 minutes, repackage, and sell to Netflix which will air anything (eg. Cuties.)

Ok i feel a bit left behind and i am usually pretty plugged in but to be honest, i don't think i have ever heard of Quibi until now...AT ALL. Like never even knew it existed. OH well, moving on.
I just found out about it and watched a hilarious video about how god-awful the content was! Just jaw-droppingly awful.
